KCCD CELEBRATES
MLK Service Weekend
From DC TO LA
A DAY ON.
From January 17 to 19, KCCD celebrated MLK Service Weekend through service projects in Los Angeles and Washington D.C.

KCCD President, Hyepin Im, stated, "KCCD is pleased to have joined other organizations throughout the country to share in a day of service - a day ON.  We are inspired by  momentous changes in our nation during this time of great economic crisis, but also of great hope. We would like to thank our Korean American church partners who participated in this exciting service weekend."

On January 19, 2009 at RFK Stadium in Washington DC, Board Members of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) joined Operation Gratitude, Serve DC and Target Retail Stores to create 75,000 care packages for American troops. First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice-Presidential spouse Jill Biden, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, various cabinet members and elected officials also came out to volunteer.  At the end of the day, more than 85,000 care kits were assembled!
KCCD KICKS OFF THE 1,000 DOOR FORECLOSURE PREVENTION CAMPAIGN ON MLK SERVICE WEEKEND
 
On January 17, 2009, KCCD celebrated the MLK Service Weekend by kicking off its 1,000 Door Campaign to educate and assist Southern California residents from having their homes go into foreclosure.

Jin Kim, KCCD Executive Director, stated, "We hope this campaign will reach more homeowners impacted by the foreclosure crisis. Many people are unaware of our free counseling sessions and the availability of potential loan modifications to make loan payments more affordable."

STREET CLEAN-UP WITH IMMANUEL MISSION CHURCH

On January 17, 2009, KCCD joined Immanuel Mission Church of Los Angeles in hosting a street clean up in the City of Los Angeles to celebrate the MLK Service Weekend.
