Los Angeles, CA - On November 1, 2008, KCCD hosted its 2nd Home Preservation and Foreclosure Prevention Fair at Berendo Street Baptist Church. With the foreclosure crisis rising to more than 460,000 here in California alone, KCCD's efforts drew more then 250 Korean Americans from Southern California to educate and provide resources for home preservation. Many participants acknowledged their lack of knowledge of the foreclosure process and expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation.

KCCD President & CEO Hyepin Im stated, "We were very encouraged to see over 250 participants turn out for this event since recent statistics show that over 800 Korean American families are going into foreclosure every month in So. California. Participant stories of their desperation and their frustration in trying to seek assistance to save their home and getting no where or being defrauded was tragic and disheartening. Thankfully, KCCD can offer some foreclosure prevention solutions to these families thanks to many of our partners and dedicated counselors."

Jin Kim, KCCD Executive Director stated, " The turnout shows that the need is so much greater than what we can currently provide. We look forward to having more partners come on board to continue this valuable and desperately needed service to the community."

Speakers participating in the fair included representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, LA County Department of Consumer Affairs, LA County Tax Assessor's Office, Asian Pacific American Legal Center, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles along with Heather Peters, State of California Deputy Secretary for Business Regulations and Housing. They  provided valuable information and much needed guidance regarding the prevalent foreclosure scams preying on desperate homeowners.
