On September 23, 2008, KCCD in association with the Asian Pacific American Legislative Staff and the Council of Korean Churches in Southern California, hosted a Legislative Roundtable: Building Faith and Civic Partnerships at the Residence of the Korean Consul General of Los Angeles. Pastors from the largest Korean American Mega-Churches in Southern California were at hand as well as Rev. Seung Hoon Shin, President of the Council of Korean Churches in Southern California, Rev. Jae Youn Kim, President of the Korean Ministers Association, Rev. Jong Dai Park, Executive Director, Korean Churches Council Community Partnership. Civic leaders in attendance included Honorable Jae Soo Kim, Korean Consul General of Los Angeles, Honorable Chairwoman Judy Chu, Board of Equalization, Councilmember Bernard Parks, and Boardmember Jay Chen, Hacienda La Puente Unified School District.
This successful and historic event brought together over 50 key leaders from the Asian Pacific community including the pastors of 12 Korean American Mega-Churches representing approximately 23,000 congregational members, as well as elected officials and members of the Asian Pacific American Legislative Staff who represented twenty Federal, State, County and local governments agencies.
The Legislative Roundtable provided a platform for Korean American church leaders and elected officials to strengthen relationships and create new partnership opportunities to address issues in the community. Many in attendance expressed the importance of this event and voiced their optimism and excitement for future endeavors.

Korean American Churches as Partners in Community Development: The Untold Story - White House Report
As part of the evening program, Hyepin Im, President and CEO of KCCD presented highlights from KCCD's White House Report entitled "Korean American Churches as Partners in Community Development: The Untold Story." Ms. Im presented that of all key institutions in the Korean-American community, the Korean-American churches, having 70 to 75 percent of Korean Americans as members, enjoy one of the largest pools of volunteers and human capital, significant financial strength, transnational church networks, active small business connections and increasing physical assets. The Los Angeles Korea Times reported in December of 2007 that the top seven Korean American mega-churches in Southern California reported $84 million in their annual offerings plus an additional $39 million in construction budget resulting in a total budget of $123 million.
