Mayor Villaraigosa Recognizes KCCD as Corporate Partner

Today Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the L.A. City
Council hosted a press conference to announce “Hire
L.A.’s Youth 2006”, at which KCCD was recognized as
one of the Mayor’s corporate partners for this
summer youth employment program.
KCCD’s Youth Workforce Program (YWP) will assist
local youth by providing job placement, with CVS/
Pharmacy
as its anchor employer. KCCD’s YWP will
provide additional services to participants, including
training in job readiness skills in order to successfully
place participants into one of CVS’s career track
options, which include
Retail Services, Pharmacy Technician, and Photo
Technician. Through KCCD’s YWP, CVS is also able
to offer paid externships to YWP participants.
KCCD’s Youth Workforce Program is a project
funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.

KCCD's Youth Workforce Program
The KCCD Youth Workforce Program is an innovative
workforce development program to improve the
employment outcomes for Korean and other
adjudicated and at-risk youth and young adults in
Los Angeles and Orange County. In future years,
KCCD will be offering similar programs in other areas.
KCCD's Mission
KCCD is a non-profit faith-based organization, which
serves as a bridge between the Asian American
community and the greater community at large in
connecting and creating private and public
collaborations. Our mission is to maximize the
capacity of Asian American faith-based organizations
and other community non-profits to remove the
cultural, language and economic barriers by
increasing their access to resources and funds in
order to assist low income individuals and revitalize
neighborhoods.
