Monthly Musings        Goodbye Costello           New York was Fabulous

Goodbye Costello
We said our final farewells to Costello October 6th. He was my friend,
my teacher, my companion, my walking buddy, my soul dog, and
so much more. I miss him so. He lives on in my heart and in my work.
Here are some of the images that Costello inspired
.

New York state of mind.
Everything went really well in New York. It was a wonderful experience. The Horace Mann School took care of me very well. I really enjoyed the students. I worked with 3 year olds up to 18 year olds during my week. The teachers were great to work with and were very organized and helpful. The classes were too short - only 45 minutes. I gave it my all and learned to do a short demo of a paste paper print making process and was able to allow the students to all have a hands on art making experience. I only wish I had more time to work with all the students.

My presentation on creativity for the Upper Division and Faculty (approximately 500 people) was well received and many students and teachers came up to me and told me how much they enjoyed it. It was a grand experience for a shy person such as myself. I felt confident and grounded. I guess all my classes and hard work paid off. Though I will say I had a lot of friends sending me love and support. You know who you are and I thank you, because I could feel it .

I was fortunate to meet with the advanced photography students 4 times.
It was great to see their photo image evolve and be affected by the suggestions I made to them. Working with these talented high school kids makes me want to do more. They were a joy and an inspiration.

My evenings were spent with my daughter and her husband and with friends seeing plays eating good food and going to museums. It was fabulous.

I did a lot of things that I was afraid to do, mostly because they were an unknown to me, but I am so glad to have done them. Everything turned out to be a lot of fun after all.
Its like Paulo Coelho says,
"You have to take risks. We will only understand the miracle of life fully when we allow the unexpected to happen."

Love, Denise
