This is the end of the fourth year of the downturn in our real estate market. JD and I made a small wager at the beginning of the year and it looks like I will loose. I predicted we would be up at least one transaction this year and JD predicted we would be down at least one transaction. It appears that the number of transactions is going to be down approximately 100 units which equates to about 1.5% of the 6075 total transactions last year. December could make up all the difference but it's not likely and I am ready to concede publicly.

December Statistics and Market Update
November transactions were up, but not enough to give me a chance to win the wager with JD. The market seems to have stabilized but inventory is down significantly. There are a few builders delivering homes to the market but inventory is down 15% from this time last year to 5750 homes.

Energy Saving Tips for the Kitchen!Energy-efficiency experts tell us to focus our efforts on the biggest energy hogs in the house, and one of them is the refrigerator. Because it cycles on and off all day every day, the refrigerator consumes more electricity than nearly every appliance in the home except the HVAC systems. The average refrigerator costs about $90 per year to operate, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. The good news is that a few simple adjustments can trim roughly $38 to $45 off those utility bills.
Clean the condenser coils on the rear or bottom of the fridge. Dirty coils restricts cool-air flow and forces the unit to work harder and longer than necessary. Every six months, vacuum away the dust that accumulates on the mechanism and check to be sure there is at least a 3-inch clearance at the rear of the fridge for proper ventilation. This routine maintenance can trim up to 5% off the unit's operating cost, says energy savings expert Michael Bluejay, saving about $4.50 a year. Read the entire article here! |
