Hughes Home Maintenance

Al Hughes

I've known Al Hughes for more than 20 years and I have never been disappointed in a job he did for me or one of my Clients.
Washingtons Remains

Washington's Remains

Dear , It was very busy this summer both personally and professionally but we also had a lot of fun. Our school year routine has begun and I'm already feeling more productive. Bennett began the 5th grade at SCS on Monday and I'm beginning to see signs of tweenager behavior. I will need professional counseling this year as we begin to be the parents of a mature 11 year old who is testing above the 95th percentile. I spent some time this week reading "Theology of the Body" for teens as we prepare for the inevitable. Help!!...I've created a link to share some of our summer fun photos. We hope you enjoy!

I hope you find this month's newsletter interesting and I hope you will forward it to your friends, family, and colleagues who may be thinking about purchasing in the Upstate.  It's my advocates that make my business successful and I am thankful for each time you have the confidence to refer me.

Best regards, Keith (420-0262)

August Market Update and MLS Data

There was significant increase in the number of transactions in July. We expected the increase but I don't think anyone expected the recent battle in Washington and it remains to be seen if the political environment will have a negative impact on the market during the second half of the year.

If you've been on the fence about purchasing or refinancing this weeks interest rates may be the incentive you need to pull the trigger.  Freddie Mac released the results of its Primary Mortgage Market Survey® (PMMS®), showing mortgage rates, fixed and adjustable, reaching all-time record lows. The 30-year fixed averaged 4.15 percent, breaking the previous record low of 4.17 percent set November 11, 2010.

Thirty-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 4.15 percent with an average 0.7 point for the week ending August 18, 2011, down from last week when it averaged 4.32 percent. Last year at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 4.42 percent.

15-year FRM this week averaged 3.36 percent with an average 0.6 point, down from last week when it averaged 3.50 percent. A year ago at this time, the 15-year FRM averaged 3.90 percent.

Weak Appraisals Hamper Home Sales
Industry experts, Realtors, sellers, and economists say that low-ball appraisals are undermining a housing recovery. Weak appraisals are "driving down the real estate market" and "borders on buffoonery," says William Maxwell, an expert in finance and professor at Southern Methodist University's business school, who has seen his own Dallas property fluctuate in appraised value by $60,000 in just a year. While the sluggish economy has pushed home values down the last few years, some real estate professionals and economists say that low-ball appraisals are pushing values down even more and undermining a housing recovery, The Wall Street Journal reports.
