Greetings! The economy continues to struggle and if it stays this way I may have to postpone retirement. Well, I think Realtors never retire anyway, they just fade away, right. I've been unusually busy this early summer but the statistics continue to show modest activity and no increase year over year, yet!
I hope you enjoy this month's newsletter and I hope you will forward it to any of your friends and colleagues who may be considering relocating to the Upstate. It's my advocates that make my business model successful and I am thankful for each time you have the confidence to refer me to your friends, family, and colleagues.

June Market Update and MLS Data
JD continues to be in the lead on our predictions for the year but the tax credit was winding up this time last year, so I'm hoping for a good third and fourth quarter to bring the numbers in line with last year and I've already got a restaurant picked out to enjoy my winnings.

I believe investing in Hilton Head is a good opportunity right now and I will be passing along specific opportunities as I develop a real estate channel on the island. I've made an investment in a local real estate company that is headed up by two long time residents and we will work as a team to identify investment opportunities and make them available first to my clients in the Upstate. Stay tuned for more details and if you've been thinking about purchasing a beach property....call me for and update. |

Termites are very common in our part of the country so it's imperative that you inspect your home for termites every year. Termites need moisture to survive and that's why they need to have access to the ground, unless there is a perpetual source of moisture within the home. Personally inspect your home to make sure the grading slopes away from the foundation and make sure your gutters and downspouts are in good condition and move the water away from the foundation. Take steps to reduce the moisture in your crawl space and immediately repair any leaking roofs, flashing, pipes or plumbing fixtures. Remove any vegetation, mulch or soil that covers the foundation completely or contacts any wood surfaces (siding, trim, basement window frames, etc.) Replace wood that must contact the soil (deck supports, lattice, steps, fences retaining walls) with treated material and stored firewood or other lumber well away from the house. Make sure you have a professional inspect every year, but be careful, the reputation and integrity of the inspector is the most critical credential on their resume. Since you usually don't see the most important part of the inspection (under the house) you must have a reputable inspector and if would like to discuss in more detail please call.
