Greetings! I know March 1st isn't officially Spring, but it is to me. I count down the days from January 3rd until March 1 because it's my way of getting through the final stages of winter and preparing for the spring Golf events.
Interest rates have been moving against us this year, reaching 5% for thirty year fixed rate mortgages. Still very attractive, but the move upward should increase activity as the window of opportunity to make a great buy begins to diminish. January's numbers were down from last year but of course the miserable weather didn't help. The "MLS Statistics" below open as .pdf files and provide a clear picture of current market conditions compared with previous years. January began with more of 2010, diminished activity and above average inventory. The economy will improve this year in spite of our government and we should see the real estate crisis gently begin to fade. Sleepover at the Atlanta Aquarium Troop 767 had the opportunity to sleepover at the Atlanta Aquarium during January. Mary Bennett and I had been as a family but the Scouts behind the scenes tours and run of the house hours made this trip worth the challenges. We arrived just after the public left and had the entire facility to ourselves until 10:00 the next morning. We saw behind all the exhibits and the boys had a blast.
