It Just Gets Better With Time
by Fatima Hall

Happy Miraculous Monday, November 26!

Sitting on my bed surrounded by zebra print sheets, page layouts, and my trusty laptop, with festivities from the BET Awards lighting up my television screen, I settled in to finish up some text for this issue.  Between Kanye West and Common, Beyonce and Robin Thicke my mind went back to the first BET Awards broadcast and I marveled at how much the production and concept for the event has grown.

I realized that things truly do get better with time.  I took the same thought and applied it to the many ups and downs that I have experienced with preparing this issue of IMAGE Magazine.  I now understand that if you hang in there and stay obedient, it will get better with time.

Time is a beautiful thing!  Physical wounds, emotional scars, and financial disasters all heal with time.  The Bible says, "weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning" and that "the race is not given to the swift neither to the strong; but to the one that endures until the end".  I don't know who this message is for but I am here to tell you girlfriend, brother man hang in there because it will get better for you.  Just give it some time and whatever you do, don't quit!

I am a "go-getter" because no matter how much scrutiny, self-doubt, and inner turmoil I have faced since this magazine was created, I've refused to stop.  This world is full of potential "go getters" who, because of life's circumstances, fears, and the doubts of those closest to them, have let their dreams die.

So what has God called you to do?  What has He mandated before the foundation of the earth for you to accomplish in this lifetime?  Don't be afraid, step out on faith and trust Him.  I'm a witness that if you hold fast to God's promises, it just gets better with time.

My life's purpose is to challenge dreamers to transform their dreams into reality.  When I die, there will not be a drop of purpose left unfulfilled.  I'm committed to the process of allowing God to develop me for greatness.

I challenge you to make the same commitment to God's will and let him lead you into your destiny. For those of you who are contemplating making a move towards destiny, take the last days of this year to get in the presence of God and really hear His voice. Then move into 2008 with a renewed mind and a "go-getter" mentality.

About the writer and magazine:

Fatima L. Hall, Publisher of IMAGE Magazine: The Revolutionary Publication for Today's Christian Youth has written for various local and national publications for over ten years. She has published over 100 articles and columns for publications like The Miami Times, The Miami Herald, The New Times, and The Gospel Truth Publications. A graduate of Howard University, Fatima was recognized by the editorial staff of The Washington Post for outstanding journalism as a staff writer for Howard's Hilltop Publication.

After a five year spiritual process and countless years of serving faithfully in youth ministry, Ms. Hall took a bold leap of faith and birthed IMAGE Magazine in July 2004. But, the road to publishing took great perseverance and strength. Fatima met with countless major youth organizations to garner financial support for the publication and was met with the same response: great idea, but we are unable to invest. Tired, exasperated, and sometimes wanting to give up, Fatima continued to hold fast to God's purpose for her life. Until, one day in a casual conversation, she shared the vision of the IMAGE with a community activist whom she had no idea would take the vision and run with it.

"It was a non- faith based community organization that gave IMAGE Magazine the funding to exist today," explained Fatima. "I would like to thank Irby McKnight and the Empowerment Zone Assembly for believing in God's vision and making an investment that has enabled us to touch lives all over the world!"

IMAGE is an acronym that stands for "Igniting the Millennium with A Generation Explosion!"

IMAGE Magazine was created for Christian youth who have been bound by religious traditions and for non-Christian youth in search of something more - the truth. Our mission is to establish a place of relevance between the Body of Christ and the Hip Hop culture of today's youth without compromising the eternal message of the gospel.

IMAGE Magazine opens the door to freedom and liberty for today's Christian youth by tearing down the walls of religion, promoting relationship with God, and advocating individual expression. With every issue, young people will experience a healthy balance of spiritual enrichment while exploring the latest trends in music, fashion, and entertainment.
