Dream big but dream in position! By L. Marie Trotter

Greetings!
Logging onto the internet today I saw an article on
AOL from CNN Money that read ?The Next Google Is
Out There.? The article went on to list twenty-five new
companies most likely to strike gold on the web 2.0
frontier in the same way Google and Ebay and others
did at the height of the internet explosion years ago.
I don?t know which companies or CEO?s will strike gold on the web 2.0 frontier but short of God?s miraculous intervention, I know which one will not. Me. How can I be so sure? For starters, I?ve never heard of the web 2.0 frontier until today. Just moments ago I had to look it up in order to define it. In a nut shell it?s a phrase coined in 2004 to identify the next generation of web-based services - the way we will do business online in the upcoming years. Please don?t misunderstand me. Just because you?ve never heard of or considered a particular field or job doesn?t mean that God will not call you to it. My point in the illustration is this. No matter the ?buzz? about the next evolution of the information super highway and no matter how much money will be made there and no matter how famous those CEO?s will become as a result of their spearheading those companies, when we are fully aware of what God has assigned us to do, no matter what others are doing, we?d better stay in position. I have to submit to the assignment God has entrusted to me. We all do. That?s not to say that I can?t partake of the web 2.0 frontier explosion by investing in one of those companies, if and only if God so leads. However, my God-given task is to write about Him and to inspire others to seek Him, live for Him and to worship and adore Him. That?s my job. And no matter how popular or unpopular the world deems that assignment, I will do it until the Good Lord instructs me to do something else. To be very honest with you, I don?t believe that we should pray to God for bigger positions, because I think a lot of times we are defining ?bigger? the way the world defines ?bigger? and not the way God defines it. If you are in the will of God and He has assigned a task unto you, it is the most important job in the world. God does not hand out miniscule assignments. Everything He sanctions is a big deal. And if we are diligent about doing what He has requested of us, we?ll soon discover how our obedience and our being in position will fulfill and reward us and others! So instead of praying to God for big positions or bigger positions, I think we should pray to God to keep us or place us ?in position.? When we are in position the sky itself is not even the limit to how big we can dream in God! If we are out of position we won?t dream very big dreams anyway. Take my newly discovered phrase, web 2.0 frontier. I will never dream or imagine all of the possibilities available in that environment. I could never dream big enough for that environment because I am not wired to do so. I am, however, wired by the Holy Ghost to dream big dreams that pertain to the dissemination of the gospel of Jesus Christ through print and other forms of writing that would bless your soul! So, I admonish you today to dream big --- dream deeply and dream meaningfully by dreaming in position.
