16 tech giants. 1 champion. We're all winners.
On July 28, YIPEE will host the Valley's premier 3-on-3 charity basketball tournament to benefit children's health and wellness. 16 teams representing some of the biggest names in tech will face off in a tournament to see who's got skills out of the office and on the court. The champion will leave with the cup and bragging rights until the battle resumes next year.

July 1 Sales Tax Increase
Effective July 1, the sales/use tax rate for Santa Clara County will increase from 8.25% to 8.375%, which will become the new rate for all cities in the county except Campbell (which has an additional special tax, causing the total rate for that city to become 8.625%).

Fenwick's Corner: NLRB Issues Latest Memorandum on Social Media Policies
On May 30, 2012, the National Labor Relations Board's Office of General Counsel issued its third guidance memorandum on social media and the workplace, this time specifically focusing on employer policy language. By way of background, an employer's social media policy may violate Section 8(a)(1) of the National Labor Relations Act ("NLRA") if it would reasonably tend to chill an employee's exercise of Section 7 rights (i.e., concerted activity for the mutual aid or protection of employees).
