Last Day of School

The last day of 'school' for the Leadership Mountain View Class of 2012 was May 18th. The day started with a visit to the SMaRT Station. The SMaRT Station is the materials recovery and refuse transfer facility shared by Mountain View, Palo Alto and Sunnyvale. New Yipee logo On July 28, YIPEE will host the Valley's premier 3-on-3 charity basketball tournament to beneﬁt children's health and wellness. 16 teams representing some of the biggest names in tech will face off in a tournament to see who's got skills out of the ofﬁce and on the court. The champion will leave with the cup and bragging rights until the battle resumes next year.

City of Mountain View's smoke-free ordinances took into effect in May As a reminder the new smoke-free ordinances took effect on May 15, 2012. The laws prohibit smoking in outdoor dining areas and picnic areas in City parks, and also prohibit smoking within 25 feet of any enclosed or unenclosed smoke-free area. New Commercial Recycling Regulations to Take Effect July 1

Starting July 1, businesses and public entities that generate four cubic yards or more of waste per week and multifamily units of five or more will be required to recycle.

The requirement was contained in legislation signed into law last year, AB 341 (Chesbro; D-North Coast).
