Greetings Chamber members! Despite having one of the wettest weeks on record here in Mountain View, we had an incredible turn out at the Tri City mixer. Hosted by Hotel Cabana [insert proper name], there were easily 300 people mixing and mingling and eating a bounty of delicious foods. If you didn't make it, be sure to attend next year. Thanks to our partner cities, Palo Alto and Los Altos for helping make this event so spectacular. We are still accepting nominations for the 2010 Athena Award, so if you know of an inspirational female leader in our community, be sure to nominate her. Additionally, we are excited to have our inaugural Athena Young Professional Award. Created to honor an outstanding Mountain View leader and Chamber member, this award will be presented to a female young professional who has attained and personifies the highest level of professional excellence in business and the community..... read more

Chamber Supports the Local Taxpayer, Public Safety and Transportation Act
|
We would like to let you know of a volunteer opportunity. Last week, the Chamber's Board of Directors voted in support of the Local Taxpayer, Public Safety and Transportation Act, a constitutional amendment that would be placed on the November, 2010 ballot. The measure would prevent the State from taking, borrowing or redirecting local taxpayer funds dedicated for local public safety, transportation, redevelopment and other essential local government services to balance the State's budget. The loss of these local revenues does not only slow down economic development but also reduce jobs. The City needs volunteers to help gather signatures for the petitions. Contact Rebecca Elliot, relliot@cacities.org or 408-829-2946 for upcoming dates and places where you could contribute to this effort | |

New Guidance on Protecting Your Business from Digital Dangers

Recently, Microsoft released the seventh version of this report (SIRv7), which offers new insight into the security threat landscape and how SMBs can best protect themselves from today's digital dangers.
Worm infections continue to increaseNot sure what the difference is between a virus and a worm? Now might be a good time to learn, because the most significant trend in the first half of 2009, according to SIRv7, was the dramatic rise in worm infections... read more
