Message from Leane Reelfs,
Chair of the Board

Despite the year winding down and the Chamber entering a typically slow season, there are still plenty of programs and opportunities for networking. If you haven't heard yet, we'll be launching our first Green Business University in January. This innovative new class will meet once a month for six months and by the time you've completed it, you will prepared to become a Certified Green Business by Santa Clara County. There are a limited number of spots available, so be sure to sign up soon.

Our Boost Your Business seminars meet every other Tuesday from 8:00 to 9:30 and have been very well-received. Topics have included social networking, navigating the healthcare maze, polishing up your brand and many more. Check out our website for more information on the next not-to-be-missed seminars.

Leadership Mountain View offers an opportunity to give the gift of golf this holiday season and while donating to LMV at the same time! The Stonebrae Classic is to be held April 12-18, 2010, at the stunning TPC San Francisco Bay at Stonebrae.

The Chamber of Commerce Mountain View is dedicated to creating a more sustainable community and is excited to offer its members a Green Certification program, Green Business University (GBU). GBU is a 6-month training course targeted to small and mid sized businesses to assist them through a step by step process of earning their bay area green business certification.

HOW IT WORKS
: Participants commit to attend a class once a month, and by the 6th month, that business will graduate and be on its way to being Bay Area Green Certified. Space is limited to 15 businesses and an application is required to determine eligibility.  Official kick-off day is January 7, 2010.

HOW TO ENROLL: Space is limited and spots will fill up quickly. Click here to sign up.
Promoting the Community

Donate to CSA!

The holiday season is the perfect time to be thankful for all that we have and to consider those in our community who may not be as fortunate as us. There are people around us who don't have the luxury of a warm meal everyday and a safe place to sleep at night. The situation gets even worse when the weather is cold. We are asking our Chamber members to clean out their cupboards and bring a box or bag of canned goods to Community Services Agency in Mountain View. A donation of money is always welcome and CSA could also use volunteers to help stock shelves in their Food Pantry. When was the last time you volunteered? It feels good and your time would be so appreciated. Thank You.
Highlights from the State of the City Address with Mayor Margaret Abe-Koga and City Manager Kevin Duggan

Here are a few highlights from the recent State of the City address presented to Chamber members by honorable Mayor Margaret Abe-Koga and City Manager, Kevin Duggan.

The address started with Santa Clara County Supervisor Liz Kniss complimenting the City of Mountain View for being the best run city in her district. Mayor Margaret Abe-Koga did most of the presentation. She said that although our city had a balanced budget for the 08-09 fiscal year, that would not be the case for this year. The primary challenge for Mountain View will be budget cuts which will eventually impact services... read more

SMBs Can Benefit from IT Delivered Through the Cloud

Shopping for a new car can be a daunting experience, what with so many models, and buying and leasing options available.  Similarly, making purchase decisions for your business' IT environment isn't always a clearcut process and requires careful evaluation of the many tools and solutions available to small and midsize businesses (SMBs).

One of the newest and most compelling trends in software for SMBs is the ability to "outsource" data and applications.  This approach, also known as "cloud computing," "software as a service," or "SaaS," resonates well with SMBs because... read more
