Message from Leane Reelfs, Chair of the Board |
|
August is upon us and where some people are enjoying these warm, sunny days, taking some time off from work, here at the Chamber we are going full steam ahead. Following six (or more!) years of service to the Chamber, I'd like to extend a very fond farewell to... more |

Tough Conversations: Talking Over What Really Matters
Some conversations are so difficult that we do anything to avoid them. Then, when things have really built up, we finally have no choice but to confront the issue, and along with it, the colleague, our spouse, or the other person involved. "We need to talk," usually precedes an argument rather than a conversation. Why are such conversations difficult? Because we are stuck between knowing what we really feel and knowing what we shouldn't say... more

Take Care When Purchasing Software
The importance of protecting your business from pirated technologies
Jane Dickson, West Region General Manager for Managed Partners of Microsoft's Small and Mid-market Solutions and Partners (SMS&P) group
It's been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. This might ring true when your friend's chili tastes remarkably similar to yours, or if they are seen wearing a shirt similar to the one you wore last Tuesday. However, when it comes to intellectual property, this familiar saying doesn't apply. There are real business and legal concerns related to intellectual property and copyright infringement. Furthermore, when it comes to counterfeit software, there are genuine risks to the consumers who purchase it. Learning how to determine whether or not you are using the "real thing" can help you avoid a troublesome situation... more |
