A record field of runners and walkers were Celebrated like never before on Saturday, May 7th in downtown Columbus at the 8th Annual Capital City Half Marathon. It started with the National Anthem played by Platinum Recording Artist O.A.R.'s saxophone player, Jerry DePizzo. Check out the National Anthem video here.
The entertainment continued with 20 bands and 13 deejays on one the best Celebration Tours of downtown Columbus and surrounding neighborhoods.
All of the Champion Athletes were then celebrated at the Byers Imports Xtra Mile Finish Line Party and Michelob Ultra Post Race Concert.
Capital City became the first road race in the country to toast its entire field with a complimentary glass of Yellow Tail Bubbles Sparkling wine to all finishers over the age of 21. Bavarian chocolates from Le Chocoholique were also provided to all finishers.
From the first ever Expo party, the Panel of Champions, the Be A Champion Youth Training Program, the Champions Reception, the Champion Wave Start Line experience, the new course and the Byers Extra Mile Finish line party and concert, this year was special. Thank you for being a part of it.
Online registration for the 9th Edition of Capital City opens June 1.

The Capital Kids ARE Champions!
Congratulations to all of the Kids that completed their First "Half Marathon"!
Thanks to the hard work of Mayor Michael Coleman, Sheri-Lynn Wynn, Steve Aumiller, Mrs. B and the team at the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, more than 482 Kids enrolled in the Capital Kids' Be A Champion Program and logged over 6641 miles preparing for Capital City.
Each child was provided a pedometer and the "Be A Champion" training schedule, and if they completed 13 miles between March 1 and May 6th, they were able to run the final .1 on the Capital City Half Marathon Course with Mayor Coleman. Each participant received the big half marathon medal. Congratulations to all of the kids who completed their first "Half Marathon".
As additional motivation to get to the Finish Line, Donatos Pizza provided free pizzas to each child at the half way point in their training.
In addition to the new Youth Training program the Capital Kids Mascot Chase kicked off the day and entertained a record number of young athletes running and walking around Huntington Park. A huge thank you to the Clippers for all of their support.
