Nate Running Legacy Running - Nate's Quest
Success is a Journey Not a Destination!

My 13 year old son Nate started off with the best intentions to run his first half marathon at Cap City. His long training runs took a bit of a backseat to his hockey, lacrosse, baseball, xbox, texting and social life. We made a decision to hold his quest to finish his first half marathon until 2010.

He was a bit disappointed and apologized to me as if he had let me down or had somehow failed. While he did not get to the finish line, the last 4 months were a big success for both of us. Training with him was a great experience. We talked about things he would never talk about at the dinner table or in a car on the way to practice. We both got in better shape. We ran a race together. We laughed a bunch. We became better friends.

He will have numerous chances to cross the finish line in his life, right now he was successful just starting a lifelong journey of running and fitness.

My sister came out to Cap City after competing in the Boston Marathon a few weeks earlier. On Friday, she got a first hand look into my life the day before the event and pitched in a bunch. Then on Saturday she again showed all of us that she is the only real competitive runner in the family. It was great to have her here and who knows, maybe next year Nate will be out there with her.

As I tell all 3 of my boys, success is a journey and an attitude: "Whether you think you can or you think you can't...your right."

    Thank you!
I want to thank all of our participants, volunteers, partners and the City of Columbus for helping us build a world class event in this world class city over the last six years. This year's event was a special one for me. We made a ton of improvements and our team performed very well. Thank you for being a part of the celebration and I can't wait until next year. Corra y Ande con pasion!
