Greetings!
We are only weeks away from the 6th Annual
href="http://www.capitalcityhalfmarathon.com">Capital
City Half Marathon and Commit to Be Fit
5k.
Registration fees were set to increase today. However,
due to the overwhelming numbers of registrations we
have had in the last few days, (we had almost 500
people register yesterday), we are going to extend
early registration until Midnight April 2nd to give
everyone a chance to save $10. This is no April Fools
Joke. Register Today.
With every business, event or product, there comes
a "tipping point" at which its popularity just seems to
explode. Just think about how many people you know
that now have IPODs? This has become the "tipping
point" year
for us.
Our registration numbers have already exceeded our
total number from last year and we have 4 weeks to go
before the event. Our participant base is drawing from
all around the country. Thanks to your support the
event has established itself as one of the ultimate
running and walking events in the Midwest. The Half
Marathon and the
Commit to Be Fit 5k have clearly become a rite of
Spring in Columbus.
In order to provide you the the ultimate experience
we are limiting the half marathon field to 5,000
and the Commit to Be Fit 5k Field to 1,500. We have
already exceeded 5,100 registrations, and expect to be
full in the next two weeks.
To confirm if you are registered you can click here.
This year we have a new start time. Due to the warmer
weather everything is moving up an hour. The Mascot
Chase will start at 7:30am, the Half Marathon at 8am
and the Commit to Be Fit 5k at 8:15am.
Don't forget to add your photos and stories on the
Capital City Half Marathon
page on Facebook and follow
us on Twitter @CapCityRun.

Legacy Running - Nate's Journey
Shedding the Attitude!
Many of you know that my 12 year old Nate is going to
be running in his first half marathon along side my
sister and 5000 of his closest friends. It has been
great to hear from so many of you about how you are
encouraging your kids to get and stay fit.
Like many 12 year olds, Nate can have a bit of an
attitude and keep his "cool" shield up a bit. Many of his
answers to questions lately have
been: "fine", "good", "nothing".
On a recent training run all of that attitude melted away
with each step we took together. He started talking
when we first started and he did not stop until we got
back to the house an hour later. His definition
of "Cool" started to change a bit. At mile 2 we climbed
a bird watching tower together. At mile 3 we laughed
about something that had happened that day. At mile 4
we talked about him being a bit nervous about the half
marathon.
At numerous points along our run he was talking so
much and so freely I could not get a word in edgewise.
I just looked at him, listened and then thought to
myself , this is pretty "Cool". Its too bad we can't eat
dinner on the running paths.....

What's Your Reason?
A few of YOUR reasons?
Eric Zarnesky writes, "I am running to show others
how good it feels."
Carla Muller writes, "My sister and I are both running
the half marathon to support Lung Cancer and its
treatment. Specifically running it for our Dad who was
recently diagnosed with Lung Cancer."
Cathie Tierney writes, "I'm running for ME!
and I almost didn't send this e-mail...Unlike
many of the stories you've heard. I'm perfectly
healthy....I've got a healthy family. No we've not had to
overcome any tragedies or conquered anything death
defying.
I'm just an ordinary woman, with an ordinary life.... but
isn't that EXTRAORDINARY!!!
I'm so lucky!
I'm running because I'm able to do so.
I'm running because I'm taking care of myself by
exercising 4 or 5 times a week.
I'm running to prove to myself that I can do it.
I'm not going to finish first, or in a record time... but I
will finish.
And if I had to guess there are probably more of my
type out there... just ordinary people wanting to run
because they can!

Join us in Arizona on March 28, 2010.
Save The Date For Next Spring Break!
Save the date to be part of the 6th
Annual Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon and
Northwest Medical Center 5k on March 28, 2010
in beautiful Tucson, Arizona.
Our team just returned from beautiful Oro Valley (just
north of Tucson) where we produced the biggest and
best Arizona Distance Classic in the 5 year history of
the event. The weather was unbelievable, the
community support amazing and our participant
numbers were up over 20%!
Just like Capital City we think we have finally reached
the "tipping point" of that event and look forward to an
even bigger and better event in 2010. We want you to
join us.
We were amazed by the number of participants that
followed us from the Midwest and especially the 50 or
so folks that joined us from Columbus. Next Spring
lets fill Tucson with chants of OH.....IO...
