Penguin Inspiration
Setting Your Expectations
There's almost nothing more exciting and more
frightening then starting a long distance training
program. The excitement you feel about participating
in the event is balanced by the fear you have about
whether you can do it.
For many of us, that fear is because our goals and
expectations have been set by someone else. We've
listened to someone tell us how fast we should run,
how hard we should train, and what how our success
will be defined.
But no one knows YOU better than YOU. Your journey
from where you are right now to crossing the finish
line on April 12th is unique to you. Listen to your spirit,
and enjoy every step.

Training Tips from Coach Jenny
Make a Plan, Stan
It's the perfect time to get going on your training for the
Capital City Half Marathon and Commit To Be Fit 5K.
The key to successful training is having a plan that fits
your lifestyle, goals and current training level. Start
with where you ARE rather than where you want to BE
and you will progress quickly, safely and be ready to
toe the line on race day. The first few weeks of my
training programs should match your current activity
level. If you've been less active than normal, consider
starting with a program that is conservative. You'll
progress faster, with less risk of injury and enjoy the
journey. Find a realist plan and merge it into your
lifestyle. If it fits your life, it will change your life.
Take a look at one of the online programs or team up
with a local training program on the Capital City Training Page
