Sharon Boesen Announced as New CEO for the International Policy Governance Association
As the 2009 Chair of IPGA it is my privilege to be able to share some exciting news with you on a couple of fronts.
First, on behalf of the IPGA Board, I am very pleased to announce the selection of a new management approach. After significant debate about what is most important for achieving our Ends given our current stage of development as an organization, and an extensive search involving both individuals and association management firms, we have selected Tiber Creek Associates of Capitol Hill, Inc. as our association management firm with Sharon Boesen as the new CEO of our organization. With the backing of a team that has expertise in public relations and marketing, meeting management, accounting, and government relations, Sharon and Tiber Creek Associates offer IPGA a full service management approach to the Ends we are seeking to achieve. As a Board we are thrilled that we were able to find such a talented person as Sharon. A resident of Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., Sharon holds an MS in Marketing Management. She is the Vice-President for Marketing and Communications for her firm. Having Sharon and the Tiber Creek team will lead us on a path toward building IPGA capacity and Policy GovernanceŽ visibility on an international scale, and build on the accomplishments of those who have gone before. As you have an opportunity please extend a warm IPGA welcome to Sharon and her team! Sharon can be reached at 1-877-224-7421 or ceo@policygovernanceassociation.org.

Montreal is a beautiful, almost magical environment. The timing of our conference coincides with Montreal's signature event - the International Jazz Festival. IPGA has negotiated some great rates for you at the Hilton Bonaventure. I would urge you to register soon to take advantage of the IPGA room block. Certainly in challenging times it is easy to think of board development and training as items that can be cut to fill gaps resulting from budget shortfalls. Actually it is during times such as these that the tools, information and resources you receive while attending high-quality events such as IPGA is known for become even more important. We assure you that the 2009 conference will contribute to your governance capacities and your understanding of all things Policy GovernanceŽ. Again, we look forward to seeing and sharing with you in Montreal!

Association Performance: The Future Finally, as many of you know and are experiencing, these are not normal times for our organization. There have been a number of items and tasks that have not been performed with the same speed and professionalism that you, the owners, are used to and deserve. As the Chair, and as a Board, we take full accountability for any inconvenience you have experienced. The IPGA Board acknowledges that we have not had the impact this year that our Ends mandate, and we are pleased to be in a position to tell you that the Association is certainly moving forward in a positive and indeed exciting fashion. Additional information and details will be shared in the Board's Annual Report to the membership which will be presented at the AGM on July 12, and I encourage you to join us there as well. Thanks! As I close I want to simply thank you for your membership and your continuing commitment to good governance. We ask that you join with us as we initiate our new path toward international visibility, member development and results. I look forward to seeing you in Montreal!
