It's Finally Here...A New Marilyn Monroe Painting:
"A Rose By Any Other Name"

This painting, commissioned by a serious private collector, was in the works for over two years and will also be the first "Marilyn" limited edition giclee release in over three years.
Scott has certainly decided to keep the incomparable Marilyn Monroe series exclusive and very rare thereby insuring the value and collectability of these works.
"A picture tells a thousand stories" could not be more appropriate when describing this piece as you will soon find out but first the specifications on the edition.
As with all Marilyn series canvases the edition is strictly limited to 60 APPs (Artist's Printers Proofs) and this one measures 32 x 24 without the frame: $1550. (Custom Framing is available)

A major scandal was brewing in 1952 when one of Marilyn's nude photos from a 1949 session with photographer Tom Kelly was featured in a calendar. The press commented that the model depicted resembled Monroe. As the studio was trying to decide what to do with the potential fallout, Marilyn suggested she should simply admit that she did the photo-shoot only because she was broke and needed rent money. The resulting publicity elicited a fair amount of sympathy for her station in life as a struggling actress.
In Scott's "A Rose By Any Other Name" the nude photo of Marilyn on the wine bottle is from that infamous shoot which also was depicted inside the very first issue of Playboy magazine in 1953.
