Meet our Senior Technical Experts

For an A&AS company our size, renowned technical expertise is a discriminator that sets us above the competition. Our expert staff, unique laboratory structure, and strong past performance in a number of programs enabled us to rebrand Riverside Research with six Centers of Excellence in order to emphasize our core technical capabilities to current and future customers. These Centers of Excellence are strengthened by the laurels of several well-known, influential, and highly respected Senior Technical Experts. John Ploschnitznig, Dr. Howard Evans, Dr. Larry Turnbull, Ernest Pennington, Rick Bartell, Juan Lopez, Dr. Jim Lange, Dr. Jeff Ketterling, and Dr. Jeff Pursel (pictured above L to R) are "household names" in their particular fields of expertise. Learn more about them by visiting our new Senior Technical Expert (STE) webpage here.
Our Creative Design Group would like to thank the STEs for participating in the photo shoot for this webpage and other marketing materials. Despite the pressure of being in front of the camera, each STE showed tremendous professionalism and patience during the process. That is, all but one.... see JP's photo shoot bloopers here. |
Are Humans Losing Control of Autonomous Technology?
Many of you know Shawn Kalis as the Director of our Education & Training Directorate. What you may not know is that Shawn is also a PhD candidate at Salve Regina University on track to earn his doctorate in December of this year. His research focuses on the role non-literal (spectral) remote sensing technology plays in the evolution of autonomous aerial weapon systems, ultimately seeking an answer to the question: "are humans really losing control over autonomous technology?" 2012 NASIC Users Meeting Held at DRC
The National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) holds a Users Meeting each year for their MASINT Flight to share analytical findings with other sensor analysts within the user community. As an annual participant, this forum allows us to fine-tune our remote sensing support through a better understanding of the users' needs. Thanks to the efforts of Peter Beer, Jim Light, and Randy Borah (engineers from our Electronic Systems Directorate in Boston), Riverside Research had the privilege of hosting this year's meeting at our Dayton Research Center. Ask Richard: Wavelengths will soon feature a new video section called "Ask Richard" that invites you, our staff, to submit questions or suggested discussion topics to wavelengths@riversideresearch.org. If the question or topic applies to the entire company, Richard Annas will respond in a short video message to all staff. This is a great opportunity to gain insight into the strategic direction of the company, keep up with the latest happenings, or just learn more about Riverside Research in general. Look for the first installment of "Ask Richard" in the June issue of Wavelengths.
Survey Results: The series of "town hall meetings" to discuss the employee survey results began in our New York Research Office at the end of April. Richard then visited the Boston Research Office and held two meetings in Dayton to share the results. The remaining schedule includes Washington DC on May 30; Champaign, IL on May 31; Melbourne, FL on June 14; Greenville, TX on June 21; and Denver, CO still TBD. |

The History of Our Lizzi Center for Biomedical Engineering
Biomedical engineering studies have been a part of Riverside Research since the 1960s when we were still the Columbia University Electronics Research Laboratory. It wasn't long after a young doctoral student named Frederic Lizzi joined the Lab that our fledgling ultrasound capabilities matured into world renowned expertise, establishing Riverside Research as a leader in the field of advanced biomedical ultrasound research - a position we still hold today. Read more about our esteemed Lizzi Center for Biomedical Engineering here. |
Tis the Season for Trade Shows
In a span of four days, Riverside Research was showcased at three different conferences across the nation: the National Space Symposium in Colorado, the AFCEA Spring Intelligence Symposium in Virginia, and the DOD Anti-Tamper Conference in Maryland. Each event served as a great opportunity to tout our Centers of Excellence by highlighting our unique lab structure and highly efficient, customer-focused subject matter experts. One of our staff members even got Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson's autograph at the Space Symposium. Find out who it was here. |
