 I would like to welcome you to the Premier Edition of the Hillside Food Outreach Newsletter.  We plan to use this newsletter to keep  everyone informed about the work that we are doing in both Putnam and Westchester County and our upcoming special events.

HFO's 9th Benefit Gala

  
On January 29, 2010 at the Greentree Country Club in New Rochelle, NY, Bernie Williams hosted his 9th Annual "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" Gala Dinner and Auctions.  Bernie's Guest this year was NY Yankee Jorge Posada.  Jorge joined Bernie for a photo session with some of the guests and then a wonderful dinner with Live and Silent Auction and a
time of Q&A with WFAN 's own Sweeny Murti.  The evening was
MC'ed by WHUD's Mike Bennett who was co-auctioneer along with

Sweeny.  The guests also enjoyed quite a few musical numbers by Bernie and his band and also Frankie Negron, a popular 

Group Pix

 Salsa Artist.

  
Some of the popular Live Auction items included an acoustic guitar played and autographed by Bernie, a weeks stay at St. Marteen, Waikiki and also one anywhere in the world!  Also offered was the opportunity to spend the day with Bernie in the recording studio as he creates his 3rd CD this summer.   The Gala raised over       Jorge, Bernie & Friends
 $50,000 for our fight against hunger!

HFO 4th Annual Walk Against  Hunger

 

On Saturday April 16th the Hillside Food Outreach will hold it's 4th Annual "Walk Against Hunger" Walkathon.  Our 2 mile walk through the lovely town of Pleasantville helps us to raise funds  to purchase the food to bring to  over 2000 clients throughout Putnam and Westchester Counties.  

 

You can print out a sponsorship sheet at our website, www.hillsidefoodoutreach.org to start collecting your pledges.  the first 50 registrants will receive a free Tee Shirt and, once again, we will award prizes to the 3 individuals who collect the most pledges.  The Age categories for the winners are 8 - 12 years, 13-18 years and 19 --- up.  A light breakfast will be served before the walk and lunch will be available when the walkers return.  For more information please call the office .

There are many ways that you can help us at the Outreach. 

  • Help us raise awareness of the local need for food
  • monetary donation, either a one time gift or pledge to support us year round.  Ask your employer to make a matching pledge.
  • Organize a food drive
  • Volunteer to drive and pick up food donations
  • Volunteer to come and pack grocery bags on our Pack Nights
  • Donate food
