Barbi Feldman speaks at WCCP Claims Management & Leadership conference
The Association of Workers' Compensation Claims Professionals' ("WCCP") annual Claims Management and Leadership conference was held this year in Naples from June 19th through the 22nd. Shareholder Barbi Feldman spoke on a panel with other experts regarding the presumption for first responders. The panel discussion, titled "Presumptions for First Responders: What do They Mean Today... and Where are they Taking us?" addressed a variety of issues facing government agencies and carriers who insure first responders.
The presumptions for first responders were put in place decades ago and for good reason. Today the financial impact of these presumptions and the long-term benefits are threatening the financial survival of our municipalities and employment opportunities for future generations of these professionals.
The panel in this discussion included Ms. Feldman, Michael Kushner, Risk Management Director of Polk County Board of County Commissioners, and Cynthia L. Howard, consultant at Howard Alexander. The panel discussed the financial impact of these laws not just on the employers and their carriers but on the community at large.
