Greetings!
My purpose in working with many wonderful women over the past 29 years has been to empower and support healing on many levels. Sadly, healing is sometimes needed from past experiences with medical practitioners that felt invasive or traumatic. Women's medicine has always been so rewarding, because as women we share so many common experiences, and naturally want to support each other.
Many women come to me with a diagnosis of poor egg quality or high FSH. It can be devastating to be told by a medical doctor in a position of authority that you cannot get pregnant because you have poor eggs, are too old, or that your FSH is too high. I am sharing an article which will shed some much needed light and optimism on this subject. I have helped numerous women get pregnant who had these diagnoses.
Here is a great picture of a patient who was very pregnant this summer, and of her baby born the following week (see below).
My colleague and friend, Tara Skye Goldin N.D., has written an excellent article on what to do when you get an abnormal pap smear.
Laura Kupperman, is the featured "Person in the Community Making a Difference" this month. She is a great yoga therapist, and is offering yoga for women trying to get pregnant. Her class is coming up towards the end of September. Please see her information below. There is a coupon at the bottom of this newsletter for 1/2 off your next visit, for folks who have not been in for the past 6 months, as well as new patients. I enjoy your comments, Molly |

ADVANCED MATERNAL AGE, HIGH FSH, POOR EGG QUALITY by Randine Lewis
The diagnoses of advanced maternal age, poor egg quality and high FSH all relate to the belief that a woman has a limited lifetime supply of eggs, and their quality deteriorates as she ages. When the pituitary gland receives hormonal messages that the ovaries are not responding as strongly as fertility requires, it emits higher and higher levels of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) to try to improve the ovaries' response. SYMPTOMSSymptoms of this diagnosis include high FSH levels and recurring failed IVFs or miscarriages. WESTERN MEDICAL TREATMENTWestern doctors often conclude a diagnosis of advanced age or poor egg quality when a reproductive system appears resistant and unresponsive to attempts to force a pregnancy using artificial hormonal stimulation. Other terms frequently used are "poor responders," "Clomid failures," or "IVF failures". The customary Western medical recommendation for the patient with this diagnosis is IVF using donor eggs from a younger woman. click here to view the rest of this article.

Abnormal Pap Results; A Natural Approach to Cervical dysplasia by Tara Skye Goldin, N.D. www.taraskyegoldin.com It's been two weeks since your annual health exam, and you haven't given it a second thought since you left the doctor's office - that is, until your phone rings. You're told the results of your routine Pap smear are abnormal. You stop breathing, your heart starts racing, and you can feel your throat tighten. "Do I have cancer?" you wonder. Thousands of women receive news of abnormal Pap results each year, and most of them fear the worst. Fortunately only a small number of abnormal Pap tests indicate cancer. The great majority are caused by cervical dysplasia, which is the abnormal growth of cells in the cervix. Cases of cervical dysplasia are classified as mild, moderate , or severe. Mild dysplasia is very treatable and can often be resolved non invasively using natural medicine. Many cases of mild dysplasia are simply a result of inflammation or irritation caused by yeast or bacteria. The cervical cells usually return to normal once the infection is treated. click here to view the rest of this article. |
