 March 2012

Hello Residents,

Happy March and early St. Patrick's Day! Rest assured that here at the District we're not relying on luck to beat those mosquitoes. We're diligently controlling these pests and making sure that you can have a fun-filled holiday.

We'd like to remind you all to take the proper precautions to prevent breeding around your home in light of the impending rain this weekend. Our newest threat - the Asian tiger mosquito - will breed next to even the smallest amount of standing water. Make sure to store unused containers inside, place lids on trash cans, and remove all small trash from your backyard. We recommend cleaning out debris from your rain gutter to prevent water from accumulating there. Your rain barrel should have a fine mesh screen on the top to stop mosquitoes from landing on the water's surface. We would appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to conduct a follow-up inspection after the rain to ensure that there is no breeding around your property.

As we mention often, we're working year-round to protect public health but need your help since we can't be in every backyard at once. Thanks for the continued support! We hope that you have an excellent rest of the month and we'll touch base in April.

Sincerely,

GLACVCD
