Using consumer marketing to grow, develop practices
 | |
Sylvestra Ramirez, PT, DPT (right) and Olivia Cortez (left) talk about the benefits of PT.
|
Community event One Wisconsin clinic took advantage of a community event to promote physical therapy. Physical Therapy & Rehab Specialists - Muskego participated in the Jammin' on Janesville Fest on June 3. After collaborating with the Marketing Team, Sylvestra Ramirez, PT, DPT was prepared to make the clinic stand out. Sylvestra organized various activities for a younger crowd to attract people to her booth. Since she is new to the community, she also had marketing collaterals to pass out which introduced her and the clinic. Newsletter Optimal Physical Therapy & Rehab Specialists is engaging consumers with a brand new clinic newsletter. It will promote the clinic, the physical therapy discipline and remind consumers of the benefits of PT.
The newsletter has already gotten off to a successful start. The key to this success is that the content is planned in advance. In fact, content has already been planned for the next 12 months. The articles are kept short and sweet to capture patients' attention and provide them with short, useful pieces of information. |

Emily Monson, PT congratulates the winner of the Turtle Lake High School scholarship.

Our family of therapists continues to make an impact in the communities they serve. Clear Lake Physical Therapy & Rehab Specialists in Clear Lake, Wis. is proud to expand its offering of scholarships to local high school seniors. Now, it will offer a $500 scholarship each to students at Clear Lake High School, Turtle Lake High School and Clayton High School. The clinic has offered the scholarship to two of the high schools for three years. Emily Monson, PT was honored to spearhead the initiative recently to expand the opportunity to Clear Lake High School. The scholarships are offered to a student entering a service-based profession. This year's winners included two students from Clear Lake and Turtle Lake who will study athletic training and a student from Clayton who will study psychology. Emily said it feels great to have the opportunity to give back and serve others, as the scholarships mean more to the students than just a dollar amount.

BILLING & COLLECTIONS
EHR initiative progresses with new pilot program
Our Electronic Health Record Committee, representing clinical and administrative staff, has moved from researching EHR systems, to selecting which to interview, to conducting the investigation and interview process and has now started testing possible solutions. We have selected an EHR/Scheduling solution to test to ensure that the system will work with our proven operations and systems. The system we are testing is OptimisPT. We also have several more to test in the event that this system does not work to our standards of practice. Our EHR committee is excited to take this next step in the journey to find the best EHR/Scheduling system to marry up with the best practice management systems. For more information, please contact Connie Ziccarelli, COO at rms-cz@tds.net.

Hi, ! This Issue's Core Value is:
Skill Training
Some of us may consider our education complete once we graduate from school. After all, we work hard in class, study for numerous tests and read late into the night. Yet the quest for knowledge is a journey on which all of us should be throughout our lifetime.
In today's global economy, competition in the workplace is pervasive, yet companies don't always place a strong emphasis on continuing education and skill development. We truly value the thirst for knowledge and are highlighting different continuing education endeavors in this issue.
New learning sessions coming soon
Coming in June, Connie Ziccarelli, COO and Kevin Svoboda, PT will offer a new online learning opportunity for clinical and administrative staff. Our Lunch & Learn Sessions will have two tracks. One will focus on administrative topics for best practices. The other will focus on topics to address providers' clinical needs. Registration will begin soon.

Preparations underway to report PQRS data in Jan.
We're excited to begin reporting Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) data on Jan. 1, 2012. The Central Office is proud to announce it has created a new clinical education program on how to implement a PQRS system.
Initiated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), PQRS is a reporting program that provides an incentive payment to physicians and other eligible professionals who satisfactorily report data on quality measures for covered professional services. We're excited to begin preparing for this transition now, as PQRS is scheduled to become mandatory by 2015.
For more information, please contact Kevin Svoboda, PT at rms-ks@tds.net.

From the desk of HR
Humana Insurance continues to be a great strategic partner, especially in their support of the physical therapy discipline. Payments from Humana are timely and accurate and the company treats providers well. Humana, like RMS, also is committed to environmental sustainability. After our group health insurance plan went out for a competitive bid renewal, Humana returned with some great new packages.
Thanks to the hard work of HR Director Marie Rasmussen and the RMS Advisory Board, RMS' healthcare consumers were never far from mind. Humana listened to our employees that said they wanted more options. The result was a truly collaborative process that ended with RMS' own employees choosing the new healthcare plans they wanted.
Now, our healthcare consumers have more options, are more in control of their healthcare spending and get to make more decisions on how to spend their healthcare dollar.
"The No. 1 predictor of employee engagement: Opportunity" The results of a survey on workplace satisfaction have revealed the No. 1 predictor of employee engagement: opportunity. Employees were more engaged when they believed their management gave them opportunities for growth and advancement. - Adapted from The Daily Carrot Principle by Adrian Gostick and Chester Elton
