The Willful King
Daniel 11:36-39

The Self-Deifying Ruler

Scripture Clearly Indentifies the Papacy

And the king shall do according to his will; and he  shall exalt himself

and   magnify   himself  above  every  god,  and  shall  speak  marvelous

things  against  the  God  of  gods,  and  shall prosper till the indignation

indignation  be accomplished: for that that is determined  shall be done.

Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women

nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.

Dan 11: 36,37

I  considered  the  horns,  and   behold,  there  came  up  among  them

another little horn,  before  whom  there  were  three  of the first horns

plucked  up by the roots: and,  behold,  in  this horn  were eyes like  the

eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. Dan 7:8

And he  shall  speak  great words  against  the  most High, and shall

wear out  the saints  of  the most High,  and  think to change times and

laws: and  they  shall be given into  his hand until  a time and times and

the dividing of time. Dan 7:25

Let no man  deceive you  by  any  means:  for that day  shall not come,

except there come a falling away  first, and that man of sin be revealed,

the son of perdition; who opposeth and  exalteth himself above all  that

is  called  God, or  that is worshipped;  so that he as God sitteth in the

temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.  2 Th 2:3,4

And   there  was given  unto  him  a  mouth  speaking  great things

and blasphemies;  and power  was  given  unto him  to continue forty

and two months. And  he opened  his  mouth in blasphemy against God,

to blaspheme  his name,  and  his  tabernacle,  and  them that  dwell in

heaven. Re 13:5,6

The  Roman  Empire   divided   in  376 A.D.  and  in   the  seat  of   the

Caesar's there arose  a new power  which  evolved  from  Constantine's

merger of church and state.   It  is obviously  the  same power  referred

to by Daniel, Paul and John in  the verses above.  These passages have

been  consistently   interpreted  by  the  reformers  and  the Protestant

School of interpreters as referring to the Papacy.

The blasphemous pretensions of the  little  horn  through  the centuries

are well documented.  The Popes  exalted  themselves  above  all  gods

and their priests were  forbidden  to marry and thus "did not regard the

desire of women".

God's Protectors - the Mauzzim

Idolatry Enters the Early Church

But in his estate shall  he honour  the God  of forces (fortresses): and a

god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and

with precious stones, and pleasant things. Dan 11:38

The  wafer god  was a strange god  unknown  to the  Romans. With the

Latin words "Hoc Corpus Meum" (hocus pocus)  the priests transformed a

piece of bread into the body of Jesus Christ. The consecrated wafer was

then encased in a gold and jewel studded monstrance and worshipped.

But what of  the god of fortresses? (A.V. Margin Heb. Mauzzim, or God's

protectors.) It is an historic fact that an appellative  precisely answering

to "Mauzzim" was given to departed martyrs and  saints  under the Papal

apostasy. They  were solemnly adopted  as  protecting  deities and their

relics, images regarded and worshipped as the "Mauzzim" or fortresses.

Sir Isaac Newton devoted and entire chapter in his prophecy book to the

Mauzzim.  He traced  the  history of  the rise of  this  idolatrous  worship

within the church from its introduction in Alexandria until it had corrupted

Eastern Chrisendom.  God is our Rock  or fortress  but the priests caused

the people to trust in idols in His place.

This  idolatrous worship brought His judgment.  The Saracen's  were  his

scourge.

Glorifying A Strange God

Dividing and Conquering in Its Name

Thus shall  he do  in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he

shall acknowledge  and increase  with glory:  and he shall cause them to

rule  over many, and shall divide the land for gain.  Dan 11: 39

Rewarding  those  who increased  the glory of its wafer god, the Papacy

gained control of  the world and  divided  it  as it pleased.  The  nations

regarded the  Pontifical grants of land and  power  as an unimpeachable

title. Gradually even Kings prostrated themselves at its feet.
