* Day at the Temple retreats are designed to provide the experience of Temple life, and space for us to dive deeply into the practice for one day. The 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. day includes zazen (sitting) and kinhin (walking) meditation, a formal vegetarian lunch, Dharma talk by Roshi, and an
ending ceremony.
** Sesshin: retreats focusing on meditation: zazen, kinhin, samu (working meditation) and mindfulness throughout the day and night, including chanting services. There is little or no group teaching, as in Dharma talks, but there is opportunity for dokusan (formal individual interview) with the Master. Plan to stay at DZC Friday and Saturday nights; formal vegetarian meals are included. Sesshin ends on Sunday after our regular Service.
*** Teaching Retreats are similar to Sesshin but replace several periods of zazen with Dharma teaching. This November, Roshi will focus on "Meditation Techniques."
