Ceremony of Mind Seal

July 18th, 10:00 a.m. Dharma Hall

 

A very special ceremony will be held this coming Sunday in which our Roshi, Venerable Thích Ân Giao will formally give the Transmission of the Light Mind Seal to Venerable Thích Tâm Hue, who also known by his Sanskrit Buddhist name of Nagacitta (or simply as Nagy). This recognizes Venerable Thích Tâm Hue as a Great Master or Thượng Tọa in the Vietnamese Lam Te/Zen tradition. The ceremony will be held at the beginning of our 10:00 a.m. Service, followed by a Dharma Talk by Venerable Thượng Tọa Thích Tâm Hue. 


Join us for a vegetarian potluck lunch and a celebration, where we shall -- no doubt -- enjoy stories.  Feel free to forward this email and/or bring friends.  Please join in the post-lunch entertainment (full-participation) - bring instruments, a song, poem or story to share.

A Special Note

We're hoping to make this ceremony something of a surprise for Venerable Thích Tâm Hue.

Although Roshi and he have discussed this recognition, Thích Tâm Hue does not know that the ceremony to mark the occasion is planned for this coming Sunday. 

As you may know, Thích Tâm Hue is very fond of a good story -- especially if the punchline/ending is unpredictable.  Please join us in the silent conspiracy to provide him with a really fine,  memorable personal anecdote to accompany the recognition of his many years & accomplishments in spreading the Buddhadharma.   .

Day at the Temple Canceled

-- A mini-retreat in the desert in August?
-- During a year when temperatures in early July are settling in at triple digits accompanied by humidity?
 
This is the reason Desert Zen Center holds Monks' Training/Rains Season in the Winter 
 
So, apologies for any inconvenience, but we've come to our senses and canceled the August 13th Day at the Temple.  Watch for Fall retreat date(s). 

Brother Taketti Vajra S'unya's* Ordination as a Novice will also be rescheduled for late Fall/early Winter.
