New Product: Blue Foot White Shrimp

Blue Foot White Shrimp

Your wait for "ready-to-go", sustainably sourced shrimp is over! At Tropical, we are pleased to introduce Blue Foot White Shrimp to our ever-growing product line.

Blue Foot White Shrimp are raised on the coast of Ecuador - directly adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. The shrimp are raised in a low-density system to avoid overcrowding and promote good health. This system reuses 70% of the water used in cultivation, greatly reducing our eco-footprint. The location of the farm allows us to raise the shrimp in a natural growing environment in waters that are replenished with every new tide - giving the shrimp a clean, succulent flavor and crisp texture.

Blue Foot White Shrimp are fed a diet of only the finest, purest, all-natural ingredients formulated at our proprietary feed plant to ensure a premium product with unparalleled taste.  Blue Foot White Shrimp are all natural - free of chemicals, antibiotics and hormones.

We harvest around the clock to bring you the freshest, tastiest shrimp available in the market - 24 hours from harvest. Blue Foot White Shrimp are shipped to you fresh, peeled, deveined and packed in 1-gallon (8 Lb) tubs - sold in 4-tub masters.  And the best part is - it's never treated with preservatives to mask freshness and it's ready to use as soon as it comes out of the tub!

Our shrimp farm undergoes an annual audit by the Swiss-based Institute of Marketecology (IMO) - one of the most renowned agencies for inspection, certification and quality assurance of eco-friendly products. In addition, our state-of-the-art processing facility is HACCP compliant.

As with the rest of our operations, environmental stewardship is a key component of everything we do. We have committed to contribute to the conservation of Ecuador's fragile Galpagos Islands by making a donation to the Charles Darwin Foundation with every pound of Blue Foot White Shrimp sold.

Say goodbye to tedious cleaning, contribute to an important cause and

discover the culinary excellence of Blue Foot White Shrimp!

European Seafood Exposition Review

ESE Group PhotoThis year was the 6th consecutive year Tropical Aquaculture Europe had a booth at the ESE.  We feel it is very important to be part of this show as it's the largest gathering of the global seafood industry in the world with attendees coming from 140 countries.  Many Europeans still do not know what tilapia is and the show is a great opportunity for us to answer questions about tilapia, our company and how we operate.

This year we wanted people to walk away with one important fact about our tilapia that differentiates us from the rest: our tilapia is grown in saltwater. We hope to have been successful in getting that message across, at a minimum everyone loved the samples! We hope to see all of you in Brussels in 2012!

Response to New York Times Article

The Atlantic

The New York Times recently published an article about Tilapia production worldwide. Gavin Gibbons from the NFI responded with Times Misses the Boat with Tilapia Tale and Helene York from The Atlantic responded with her article In Defense of Tilapia. Both share scholarly opinions overlooked by The New York Times.
