Ecuadorian Vice Minister of Aquaculture Comments on Our Sustainable Practices

Profile Series in EcuadorEarlier this month, The Profiles Series went to Ecuador to film an educational segment about sustainable tilapia production and we had the opportunity to showcase our Ecuadorian farms.  The Profiles Series, a television production company, whose mission is to create quality programming with the goal of educating viewers both nationally and internationally on a wide range of topics, sought us out as leaders in sustainable tilapia production.

The segment filmed in Ecuador focused on the sustainability of our operations.  Leonardo Mariduena, Vice-Minister of Aquaculture, was interviewed and he mentioned that our practices are environmentally friendly and in accordance with the "Rights of Environment" policy that the Ecuadorian government established in 2008, a policy that Mariduena strongly supports. BASC Auditor Certification at Produmar Plant

 j

At the end of last month, personnel from Produmar Plant received certification as BASC (Business Alliance for Secure Commerce) auditors.  For Produmar, the purpose of the BASC certification is, as mentioned in their safety policy; to identify and mitigate the risks of illicit activities by third parties in the logistics chain by diligently complying with the BASC regulations.

Having an internal group of BASC auditors means that employees are well educated in this standard and therefore are able to implement the regulations. The certification process for the plant was concluded early this week.
