Milby Park
2010 brought the first dedication in our newest neighborhood - Milby Park. We've changed our building plans and updated our community planning. Milby Park will be 62 brick-exterior homes with attached garages, and is part of a mixed-income community. |

Sustainable Building Practices
We made great strides in our sustainable building practices, with four sponsors opting for the upgraded green package. GE Energy, Houston Dynamo's Brian Ching, Calpine Corporation and Pride International have each stepped up to build a green upgraded home. Options include solar panels for electricity, solar-powered water heaters and healthy indoor materials such as non-toxic paints and recycled cabinetry. We also received our third annual EPA Energy Star Award, based on our build model for every home. |
$1 Million Challenge Grant - WE DID IT!
The Houston Endowment $1 Million Match Grant is complete. With the Grant we have a total of $2 million to go toward land & development. Thank you to Houston Endowment and all who donated and participated!
Friends of Houston Habitat
We initiated the Friends of Houston Habitat Program at a Breakfast event in October, and are looking forward to growing this group of advisors and advocates. |

Neighborhood Stabilization Project
Houston Habitat was chosen as a recipient of the City of Houston's portion of NSP funding, which stems from Federal Stimulus Fund dollars. We are in the process of building 17 homes in Houston's Fifth Ward, in an effort to revitalize this historic community. |

ReStore
The Houston Habitat ReStore serves the community by selling home improvement goods, furnishings and decor at deeply discounted prices with proceeds benefiting Houston Habitat. 2010 brought big changes to the store, which now hosts a customizable paint station and expanded inventory. Stop by 6161 South Loop East, Houston 77078, to see the upgrades. |

Congratulations to 10 Houston Habitat families who paid off their mortgages in full in 2010! |
As we conclude 2010, we proudly expect to close more than 30 homes for the year, with 20 additional homes under construction. We are looking forward to the upcoming spring build season, and what 2011 has in store for us. We've made great progress in the past year, but we still need your help to accomplish our mission in Houston!
