The Early Learning Coalition of Orange County and the Adult Literacy League are partnering with Mayor Buddy Dyer's Cities of Service: Orlando Cares High Impact service Plan.  Orlando Cares will engage a cadre of volunteers in programs that help youth improve their academic success, increase their literacy skills, plan viable career choices and avoid the juvenile justice system.

Your center has been selected to participate in the Preschool Ambassadors initiative.  Preschool Ambassadors is a family literacy program that will expand early childhood education by utilizing volunteers to increase the enrollment of 4 year-olds in Voluntary PreKindergarten programs and improve the quality of education in prekindergarten centers.  This program will also train families in family literacy activities, to educate parents about the importance of reading to and with their young children.

Your center is in one of our target areas for the Ready Readers program where volunteers come and read to small groups of children for 1-2 hours per week.  Please understand that volunteers select the program to volunteer so we do not know (yet) which centers will have volunteers.  Once a volunteer signs up you will be called and will be given further information.

Expect a formal invitation (via email) to the launch event with Mayor Buddy Dyer.
