According to Wikipedia, "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition" is an American patriotic song written in 1942 as a response to the attack on Pearl Harbor.

     The song describes the heroism of a chaplain aboard the USS New Orleans while under attack from the Japanese.  He is asked to say a prayer for the men firing at the oncoming planes. The chaplain puts down his Bible, mans one of the ship's gun turrets and begins firing back, saying, "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!"

     I'm not sure about the accuracy of this historical account but that phrase has been familiar to me for many years.  So, in trying to decide whether or not to keep Second Amendment Outfitters open on Sundays in the future, it popped into my head again.

     For many of us, Sunday is a day of worship and family communion, which is why we limit our Sunday hours at SAO to 12pm to 5pm. It's also usually the shop's slowest day of the week, often not worth us opening the doors for business.

     So, we had an idea that might keep SAO open on the Lord's Day while offering a new option for quality time with the kids. 

Bring your "Tweens" and Teens (12-17 years old) in on Sundays

     You see, until now those under the age of 18 were only  

allowed to shoot rifles in the range -- handgun use was prohibited.  Because several of our customers have questioned this policy, we're changing it...on Sundays... for now.

     If you are a responsible, experienced shooter who will closely supervise your family in the range, bring the tweens and teens in on Sunday afternoons and they can shoot whatever weapon and ammo you and the range allows.

     Plus, shooters under the age of 18 shoot for free in the same lane as the parent on Sundays when you bring the coupon below.
So, next Sunday, praise the Lord in the morning and then come on in and pass the ammo!.

     That is one of SAO General Manager Mark Puca's favorite sayings when trading stories in the shop with our loyal shooters.

     I think it's a perfect headline for promoting the SAO Shooter's Academy curriculum. It pretty much says it all regarding protecting yourself, your family and your possessions.

     From your responses to our recent survey, we know that most of you already have your carry permits and are skilled shooters. But, if you have not yet received some training or know friends or family members who could use some, please consider enrolling them and/or yourself in an SAO class.

Got Your Sights Set on Hunting?  

     Are you ready for the upcoming deer season? Confident your lead will hit home when you squeeze the trigger on that big buck? If you are the least bit unsure, you might want to consider coming over to the range and sighting in your muzzleloader or rifle (sorry, no shotguns).

     Even though the SAO range is only 25 yards long, it is great for laser bore sighting and your preliminary grouping. With most hunting rifles, if you group dead center at 25 yards, you'll be 1-2" high at 100 yards and back to center at 250 yards. You'll save considerable money on ammo getting on target in the comfort of our little range.

     We have laser bore sights and sandbags on hand and, if you purchase a scope from us between now and the end of August, we'll mount it and bore site your rifle at no charge.

     So, come on over and get set for a clean kill this fall.
