7th Annual Colonial Harvest Day - Sept. 24th
Come One, Come All... to the 7th Annual Colonial Harvest Day in historic Westfield

When: September 4th from 10:00 AM
to 4:00 PM
Where: Downtown Westfield, Massachusetts.
As in past years, we will be sponsoring a wonderful lineup of musicians on the main performance stage, including Washboard Slim and the Bluelights, Woodford Way with Kyle Mangini, the Pioneer Valley Fiddlers, and fiddling phenom Sarah Michel, who is known as "Sarah the Fiddler." The Colchester Continentals Fife & Drum Corps, which wowed us with their last appearance at Colonial Harvest Day, will also be joining us again this year.
New this year, some "British redcoats" from Her Majesty's 10th Regt. of Foot (New York) will also be joining us and will be encamped at the Church of the Atonement!
A select group of local "celebrities," including Mayor Dan Knapik and his brother, Senator Mike Knapik, as well as some very competitive brothers with the last name Sullivan (Bo and Rick, et al.), will also be joining us this year for our annual "Celebrity Town Crier Contest" and crying out the important news of the day. The winner gets a case of Harvest Day Ale. You won't want to miss it!
The Westfield Athenaeum and Abner Gibbs Elementary School will also be sponsoring colonial games and crafts for kids. The Friends of the Athenaeum will also be holding a Used Book and Tag Sale, with some great bargains!
As always, we will have some wonderful arts and crafts vendors, and Harvest Day food vendors lining Court Street up to Lydia's Gathering Place at 51 Court St., where a delicious Colonial Luncheon will be on tap. Also at Lydia's a select group of colonial demonstrators will be showing how they make their handicrafts using traditional methods.
In addition, there will be 2 performances of a new play created by playwright Kathi Palmer, of the Westfield Theater Group, entitled SILENT MEADOWS, that will be performed in the Performance Tent, which is separate from the Performance Stage and will be located on Court St. in front of Berkshire Bank. The performance times for the play are 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Picture Westfield Photo Contest!
To celebrate and document our city's history, the Westfield Athenaeum is sponsoring "Picture Westfield!" - one week to capture in images our impressions of life in Westfield in 2011. We are privileged to preserve pictures of early Westfield in our archives, but what will people one hundred years from now understand about us?
We are asking everyone - young and old, amateur photographer and professional - to take photos during the week of October 1 - October 8 to share with future generations as part of the Westfield Athenaeum archives. Through our photos, we will tell the story of who we are and what is important in our lives.
For more information or to register as a photographer you can download the flyer and registration forms by clicking on: http://www.westath.org/events/Picture_Westfield.htm
Please e-mail the completed form to: doherty.eileen@comcast.net.
