Once again Westfield began the summer with a bang!  Stanley Park hosted a terrific fireworks display on Saturday, July 3rd, sponsored by the Kiwanis organization.    Our citizens did not let the construction around the city keep them away from celebrating our nation's freedom.

We'd like to thank the Mass DOT, the Lynch group, the Westfield Police Dept, and City Councilor Jim Brown from Ward 2 for keeping us informed and distributing the weekly traffic updates.

Downtown Westfield continues to offer great concerts, theatre performances, gallery openings, and much, much, more this summer!
The Roger Salloom Band will perform an outdoor concert in the Church Street Commons area, Thursday July 15th, beginning at 7:30 p.m.  The Gaslight Gallery (Formerly Gallery 24 at Creative Corner) will hold a special opening prior to the concert.  Westfield State College is presenting the "Masters Festival of the Arts".  See our calendar of events below for all the details.

Don't let the construction keep you from enjoying a delicious meal at one of our downtown restaurants or from having a fun night outdoors listening to some great music!

Please remember to support our downtown merchants, restaurants, and professionals as  downtown experiences some exciting improvements!

The Roger Salloom Band
featuring Charles Neville
 (of the Neville Brothers)

rogersalloomband

"Come hear this treasure of a musician.  Roger is a gifted songwriter and singer who presents his very personal view of the world for all of us to enjoy.  He can be funny and sad at once...and certainly a gifted musical talent.  And he is one of us. He lives right here."

Roger's music appeared on the Grammy Ballot in 20 categories in the last 3 years

His 3 videos have a total of: 105,071 + and he has the Number One viewer-rated video on Yallwire's bluegrass chart

Roger's album, La Te Da, was a top-40 hit on the Americana charts, R&R, AMA & Cashbox,2008.

Grammy Magazine has recommended So Glad I Made It, the Saga of Roger Salloom, America's Best Unknown Songwriters as one of  the top 15 music documentary films in the last 10 years.  The film won 6 awards.

 "Superb" Rolling Stone Magazine

"...The writing talent of Dylan or Guthrie... musical genius...hilarious and tragic, kindhearted and careless, all the complexities of a real human being." IMDb

Roger Salloom's voice quickly suggests a comparison to early Bob Dylan, but it's this vet's penchant for telling a great story that puts him in the same category.  Time Out New York
