Downtown Westfield Clean-Up Day The Westfield Business Improvement District along with Mayor Dan Knapik, Councilor Jim Brown, Councilor Peter Miller, and Pastor Val Roberts-Toler would like to thank everyone who came out for our 2010 Downtown Clean-up Saturday, May 1, 2010.
The day was a "huge" success! Over 125 volunteers from more than 10 different organizations, as well as individuals came together to clean up our downtown! They brought gloves, rakes, brooms, shovels and even wheelbarrows but most of all they came with a wonderful positive energy and a desire to work together for the good of our community!
After a very productive morning of sweeping, weeding, mulching, etc...everyone involved enjoyed a delicious cookout sponsored by The Greater Westfield Clergy Association, Big Y, Stop & Shop as well as the wonderful cookout team from First United Methodist Church.
A special thanks to Pastor Val for spearheading this great and very worthwhile event. We couldn't have done it without her! Many thanks to our sponsors Andy Oleksak for the mulch; the Tobacco Barn for soda & water, Rocky's Ace Hardware for the use of extra tools and equipment, along with the WBID Clean Team and the DPW guys for helping out!
Also, a special thank you to our photographer, Eileen Doherty for capturing so many great moments!
