Dear Elementz Supporter:

As 2009 draws to a close, we would like to thank all those who have supported Elementz and the Elementz Youth over the past year.  2009 has been a year of growth and change for Elementz and we are very pleased to share with you our 2009 Annual Report.

We are pleased to announce that Elementz has achieved many of the goals that were set out for this year, including:

·         Growth in youth membership (Nearly 200 total new members)

·         Additional hours of Hip Hop Arts instruction

·         Increase in Leadership and Arts performance opportunities for youth

·         Recipient of the People of Color Wellness Alliance award for 2009

·         Selection as one of the initial five arts organizations in the Fine Arts Fund "Multicultural Arts Accelerator" program.

Also this year, we said a fond "farewell" to one of our founding directors, Islord Allah, and welcomed long-term volunteer and employee Abdullah as our new Program Director.  Under Abdullah's leadership, our staff and volunteers have continued to expand programs and performance opportunities for our youth.

Speaking of our youth, we have a great group of young people who come to Elementz.  Here are the words of a 19-year old who found Elementz this year:

"Elementz has helped me to grow as a person because of the fact that I can express myself through music," he says. "Elementz has people there that inspire you to want to make change. I now think more outside the box and write about things in my songs that people go through that are not always talked about in other songs."

Elementz fosters the growth of creative minds while engaging youth in positive relationships with one another.  Our philosophy characterizes the importance of inspiring youth, community building and leadership development through our programs for DJing, Graffiti Arts, Audio Production and Hip-Hop Dance.  But we can't do this without your help.  Your gift to Elementz will help support our programs in 2010 and help us meet our ambitious goal of opening the youth center one additional night each week.  We know we make a difference in the lives of the youth who come to Elementz, and we hope you will help us continue this work with your generous donation.
