Greetings!
It's hard to believe summer is already here! The past few months have proven to be the busiest yet for Urban Igloo. We are grateful for all the positive feedback we continue to receive from apartment and condo owners whom we introduce to new renters. And with our new retail office at Farragut West attracting lots of foot traffic - and our website generating over 12,000 hits a month - our leasing agents look forward to matching even more landlords and renters in the coming months.
As for apartment hunters ... with real estate's busiest season well underway, now is the time to be aggressive. As our friends from UrbanTurf advise in this month's interview, "if something good comes along and you don't jump on it, it will be gone before you have the chance to reconsider. The demand is just too high and the supply too low."
In addition to Urban
Turf's sage guidance, this month's Rent Check
also spotlights expert insight into the world of property management from Julie
Smith of Bozzuto Management. And our Featured Property takes you on a tour of a
new luxury building in Petworth - worth a look!

Bozzuto's Julie Smith on Smart Property Management
Responsible for a portfolio of more than 30,000 units in nearly 100 apartment communities on the East Coast, few know the ins and outs of property management better than Julie Smith. She is President of Bozzuto Management Company, named "Property Management Company of the Year" by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in 2009.
We recently spoke with Julie about how to keep renters happy, the rise of 'green' apartment living, and questions to ask when apartment hunting.

What Customers Are Saying
"On my own I had found my three previous tenants. They all moved into my condo in the late Spring or Summer. My most recent tenant moved out October 17th. I didn't have the time to meet prospective tenants during the day because I work. Having no luck advertising on Craigslist despite my three previous successes, I turned to Urban Igloo. Despite the time of the year and despite the recession, Urban Igloo found a new tenant for me in 2 1/2 weeks. THANKS Urban Igloo."
Natonne K., Landlord, Washington DC
"I cannot thank Urban Igloo enough for all of your time, for sharing your insight, and for asking me the questions that I *really* need to answer before deciding on a new place to live. Thanks to you, I am no longer panicked about finding a place before my deadline and, even better, I appreciate the peace of mind that I'll be living somewhere I enjoy (within my price range!). I look forward to working with you and sending other folks your way!"
