| Metro Career Academy Groundbreaking |

Metro Career Academy's groundbreaking ceremonies were held Tuesday, August 11th with an excellent turnout! Over 110 people came to celebrate Metro Tech's ambitious full- service community school to help at-risk youth have successful futures. Danene Vincent, Associate Superintendent, Chief of Staff, praised this achievement for Metro Tech. "This academy will provide services to students who struggle with adverse obstacles in their lives," Vincent said. "We will do all we can to remove those obstacles, keeping them in school and on their way to a brighter future." The Oklahoma City Police Dept., OU Health and Science, Oklahoma Boy Scouts Association, Tinker Federal Credit Union and the National Guard, just to name a few, will be on site for students needs. The MCA is scheduled to be completed next year, giving a new and improved home to those who attend classes at the ACE campus. Those who will be enrolled at the new MCA building will pay it forward by volunteering in a variety of community services.
The MCA will provide healthcare to students including dental and mental health. The 50,000 sq. foot building will have a wellness center, classrooms, commons, washing machines, and food service for 450 alternative education students. "Our goal is to be role models and mentors to these young adults who have faced adverse conditions in there lives," Rosalyn Johnson, CEO of Community Health Centers Inc. said. "We want them to know that no goals are unattainable no matter where you start."

| Metro Downtown at the Montgomery hosted AIGA's Pixar: A Design Story |
Metro Technology Centers' Metro Downtown at the Montgomery hosted AIGA Oklahoma's presentation of Pixar: A Design Story by Jay Shuster on September 3rd. AIGA is the professional association for design in Oklahoma. AIGA, Metro Tech, University of Oklahoma, Digital-Tutors and PDC Productions sponsored the event and brought Shuster to Oklahoma.
Students, freelancers, graphic designers and web developers listened and watched as Shuster presented his life working for Pixar Studios as a Sketch Artist for character and environment designs in the films WALL-E and Cars. Shuster is currently working as Art Director on Disney-Pixar's 2011 sequel to CARS. President of AIGA Oklahoma, Suzanne Green, said anyone interested in graphic design had the chance to see what designers do on the job. "AIGA events are inspiring and give emphasis to the validity of design in the Oklahoma community." Green said. Metro Tech has made leaps and bounds in the design field. Metro Tech is the only Authorized Training Center for Adobe and Apple certifications. Those who complete certifications have a higher degree of professionalism in their craft.
