NO MORE
is a simple idea with the power to unleash new, major attention to the numbers of people all around us who are hurt ~ directly or indirectly ~ by domestic violence and sexual assault every day and every minute.  We all know  people who have been touched by this violence but still, domestic violence and sexual assault remain hidden and misunderstood.  NO MORE shines a spotlight on these issues.  Each of us can use NO MORE to stop the stigma, shame and silence for good.  Like the peace sign, the "support our troops" ribbon or the AIDS ribbon, our goal is to use the NO MORE symbol to help unify all people and organizations who want to end domestic violence and sexual assault.

DELTA PREP Releases Portfolio

The DELTA PREP Project recently released a portfolio with an overview of the Project's work since 2007, which provided details about the accomplishments of the 19 funded state domestic violence coalitions (SDVCs). DELTA PREP has invited all SDVCs to a culminating event, a National Prevention Symposium, scheduled for May 7-8 at the CDC in Atlanta.

A coll
aborative effort among the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the CDC Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, DELTA PREP focuses on primary prevention strategies of intimate partner violence.  It built on the successes and lessons of the CDC's DELTA Program, which provides federal funding to SDVCs to support coordinated community responses for primary prevention of IPV.

Through the DELTA PREP Project, the SDVCs built their organizational capacity for IPV primary prevention work and expanded and enhanced their ability to lead and support efforts to stop IPV before it begins and to facilitate and promote primary prevention capacity at the state and community levels.

Part of DELTA PREP's scope was to advance national efforts for IPV prevention.  To this end, a National Leadership Committee was convened to share information, coordinate efforts and establish networking links.  The National Center's Debby Tucker chaired this Committee.

A longer term national effort is the development of the IPV Prevention Council, comprised of SDVCs, representing DELTA, DELTA PREP and non-funded coalitions involved in IPV primary prevention work, the National Network to End Domestic Violence and the National Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence.  Election of Steering Committee members from the DELTA and DELTA PREP SDVCs is underway.  The Council's bylaws specify the appointment of additional Steering Committee members representing other national organizations involved in prevention work, such as Futures Without Violence or PreventConnect, as well as representatives from SDVCs that have not yet been part of DELTA.  The Steering Committee will continue the cooperation begun under DELTA PREP's National Leadership Committee to advance IPV primary prevention at national level.  The National Center's Debby Tucker, Christina Walsh and Board Secretary Rus Funk, representing DELTA PREP SDVCs, served on the committee to develop the Council's bylaws. Kristi VanAudenhove, Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, representing DELTA SDVCs, chaired the committee.
