NFCA

Debby will suggest an approach to analyzing acts of violence committed by servicemembers to determine the most appropriate intervention while also ensuring the safety and well being of family members.  She'll provide an overview of the theories of what causes domestic violence and how the newly emerging issues related to PTSD and TBI (traumatic brain injury), the signature injuries of the current conflicts, are impacting the analysis of domestic violence in the military.

If you are unable to participate but would like to listen to a recording of the webinar or obtain the materials, register so you'll receive directions on accessing this information.

In addition, the Battered Women's Justice Project, National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and the National Network to End Domestic Violence are hosting two military-related webinars that will be of interest to you.  Debby and NCDSV's Communications Director, Christina Walsh, work closely with these groups and know the webinars will be helpful and informative.

President Obama and Vice President Biden Recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Debby and Veep

Vice President Joe Biden and NCDSV's Executive Director, Debby Tucker, celebrate progress over the last 16 years while rededicating to meet the challenges ahead.

President Barack Obama outlined numerous

Some of the President's remarks are included below.  You can also watch a video and read the complete transcript of the event.

"... And we've come an incredibly long way since that time.  We have changed laws.  We've made progress in changing the way people think about domestic abuse.  ... we've reduced the incidence of domestic violence.  And we've done so in no small part because of the advocacy of your organizations and the willingness of victims to tell their own stories...

"...And I say that not only as a President, but as a son, as a husband, as the father of two daughters.  Now, we've made a great deal of progress in recent years.  But everybody in this room understands that our work is not yet finished. Not when there's more we can do..."
