Columbus - September 22, 2010
Opening of new Nordic Light Warehouse and Assembly Facility

NordicLight

Did you know that 80 % of our decisions are based on what we see. Seeing is interplay between the eye, the object viewed and light. The latter decides how we perceive the object in view. Lighting controls the visual impression. It is a bold, but true, statement. So, in order to achieve a desired atmosphere, knowing how to use lights and lighting is alpha and omega. Even with small means, the effect can be great - remember, it only takes a flashlight to create a monster.

One of our newer Business Members, the Swedish company Nordic Light (www.nordiclight.se), designs, manufactures and markets a complete range of high-performance, energy-efficient display lighting fixtures. Together with their local partner - also a SACC-Ohio member - D+S Distribution (www.dsdistribution.com), they are setting up an assembly and distribution center in the Columbus area. SACC-Ohio will have the opportunity to participate in the grand opening on September 22, 2010. Go to www.sacc-ohio.org for more information and how to sign up.

April 22, 2010 - Visit to NASA Glenn Research Center

SACC-Ohio arranged for a very unique visit to the NASA facility in Cleveland.
First, Jim Roeder, NASA, showed us what NASA is doing in a short slide presentation. Jim told us how their wind tunnel was constructed as he showed us around the wind tunnel complex. In the wind tunnel that we visited there was a jet engine air intake, which was being tested for a supersonic vehicle/engine. which had two intakes.

NASA Glenn operates and maintains several wind tunnels in accordance with its commitment to researching innovative propulsion technologies and flight safety.

After the visit to the wind tunnel facility, Dr. John C. Thesken talked to the group about the development of "Advanced Composite Structures in Manned Space Flight Vehicles.

It was a very interesting evening, allowing us a unique peak into NASA and their activities. We concluded by enjoying sandwiches, refreshments and took the opportunity to ask Jim and John questions as well as to network with our fellow SACC-Ohio members and guests.

"Reduce the Emissions and Grow the Economy at the Same Time, Environmental and Economic Sustainability - Bringing the Swedish Model to Ohio"

Andrew Walleck, a manager at McMaster-Carr in Aurora and recently a corporate strategy management consultant, presented us his report from a study tour to Sweden last year. During that visit he met with government and industry to study how Sweden has been able to become a world front runner in developing and adopting energy, environmental, and economic sustainability programs.

He presented a new mixed business and housing development in the Stockholm area, where energy conservation and sustainability was planned into the project from the beginning by involving all partners, including architects, builders, waste management, heating, etc. and agreeing on standards and targets before any work started.

Americans rave about the Swedish Solution for Financial Literacy

POWELL, Ohio, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Bonanza Education AB expanded its proven financial literacy programs into the United States market in late 2009 with the formation of Bonanza Education USA.

The introduction of the Swedish financial literacy concepts to the United States has been very successful, which is evidenced by the resounding positive feedback from the companies and participants of the recent programs.  "In today's fast paced business environment, many owners, managers, supervisors, and employees don't always have a traditional finance background, but are asked to make decisions and take actions that affect the bottom line every day. The Bonanza programs can help build that bridge," said Matthew Wolf, Chief Operating Officer of Bonanza Education USA.

For 20 years, Bonanza Education has been helping corporate and privately held company employees in Europe, Australia, and now the United States understand business finance by using easy-to-understand graphs to represent financial statement information. Bonanza Education delivers this innovative approach to financial literacy through their facilitated programs, visual language tool BonanzaGraf(R), and award-winning Web-based e-learning program.

About Bonanza Education
Since the 1991 inception in Stockholm, Sweden by Peter Soderholm and Joakim Ortner, Bonanza Education has helped hundreds of thousands of people to understand finance, profitability and business challenges.
