Why Starboard?
As a recreational sailor, I really like the idea of comparing business to sailing. In sailing, there are all sorts of conditions you cannot control: wind, weather, seas, pirates! Business is the same way. There are all sorts of forces at work, like the economy, politics, customers, and taxes! In the end, it's your responsibility to "set your sails" to keep you and your business headed in the right direction. How do you know what direction that is? The numbers are your navigational tools. Running a business with a shoebox full of receipts is like sailing across the Atlantic without a chart and a compass! You may end up somewhere warm and tropical....or you may end up in Antartica.
