Many patients that come to see me complain of a "boxy" or ill-defined nasal tip, but they are otherwise happy with their nose.  Tip rhinoplasty offers a smaller procedure, with less swelling and bruising, to refine and reshape the nasal tip.  "Breaking the nose bones" is avoided, and most patients need only 3 or 4 pain pills total.  Swelling is usually gone in a week, and the nose skin tightens quickly to the new structural framework.  These small procedures are performed in under an hour at an outpatient surgery center.  The nose is not packed after the procedure; therefore, the discomfort of packing is eliminated.  A small splint is placed onto the nose for a week, and then normal activities can be resumed.  Patient satisfaction is high, cost is reasonably low, and there is minimal discomfort after the first day.
