Chef Jacques and Paige on Bastille Day 2010 | The Press Loved Bastille Day at Chateau du Lac
Food critic Brett Anderson of the Times Picayune's Lagniappe wrote a glowing article after dining at Chateau du Lac , that we are very proud of. In fact, here's a quote: "...evidence of what Chateau du Lac has become: One of the best fine dining restaurants in Metairie." Read more here on NOLA.com.Bastille Day at Chateau du Lac was such great fun many of us forgot that we weren't actually in France. Thank you to all who stopped by and celebrated with us. Good cheer and champagne were flowing in copious quantities, as many of you might remember! There were many refrains of La Marseillaise throughout the night, most of which were accompanied by our favorite musicians, Les Bar-oudeurs. We have included some of our favorite photos from that night here and even more on our Facebook page. Make sure to become a fan so we can keep you informed of our specials and events.

| PAIGE'S VERY SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL PROJECT | | An Amazing Educational Opportunity for the Children of Greater New Orleans
Now is the time to tell you about a very heartfelt project that Paige has been working on that we promised to tell you about last month. It is a wonderful new charter French school in New Orleans called "Lycee Francais de la Nouvelle Orleans".
Did you know that the United States is the only westernized country that does not mandate bi-lingual education? Statistics show that bilingual children are brighter and more successful in the adult world. Paige faced a true mother's dilemma, because her and Chef's own children, 3, 5, and 8 years old, were not being taught a bi-lingual education. This sad fact necessitated the creation of the first public Pre-K3 through 12th grade French school in the United States, and with her mother's instinct in high gear, Chateau du Lac's own Paige Saleun was determined to be at the helm of it.
Many well-known New Orleaneans have responded to joining forces with us. We have assembled an amazing Board of Directors and Advisory Board. This includes consuls of foreign countries, entrepreneurs, architects, journalists, attorneys, doctors, educators, law writers and of course, parents. The State of Louisiana Dept. of Education, says Lycee Francais is the most innovative school concept they have seen in many years, but the bottom line is... we need your donations.
What is Lycee Francais?
It is a state charter school that has been applied for and is expected to open by August 2011. "Lycee Francais de la Nouvelle Orleans will provide the opportunity for its students to achieve both the French Baccalaureate and the Louisiana high school diploma in an academically challenging and culturally diverse educational environment. Lycee Francais students will matriculate into the finest colleges and universities throughout the world.
By implementing the comprehensive French national curriculum (recognized worldwide for its excellence) and providing the environment for students to develop the ability to think multi-dimensionally, Lycee Francais will be the first Pre-K through 12th grade French school within the universe of public U.S. Charter Schools."
Click to visit the LFNO.org website and for credit card donations. Other donations to "LFNO, INC." can be dropped off or mailed to Chateau du Lac, Attn: "LFNO Fund", 2037 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA 70005. "Merci" in advance for your donation.

| AU REVOIR | | |
Dear Friends, It was a pleasure to help our friend Derek Todd, former owner of New City Grille, by having him work with us while he was in transition during July. He plans to relocate out of town, and we wish him our very best. We are all getting excited about the return of the New Orleans Saints and the NFL football season. That's why we have set up our bar area for those of you who want the best of both worlds: watching the Saints while dining at Chateau du Lac. Summer is coming to an end, and we are getting the kids back to school. A very special project, Lycee Francais du Nouvelle Orleans, will make the most of that very special time in a child's life when getting a quality education matters the most. Please visit the website and join forces with our many influential local sponsors to help change a child's future. We love getting your feedback and suggestions. Thanks for keeping our communication open! Call or email me at any time at chateaudulac@aol.com Bonjour Mes Amis, Paige Saleun Chateau du Lac Bistro (504) 831-3773
