JULY 2010
La Coupole in Paris

Can't get away for vacation? Have a taste of France right here at Chateau du Lac...

Stepping into Chateau du Lac is as close to Paris as many of us will get for a while, so we always make it a memorable dining event. Come by with friends and relax in the only true French bistrot in town (yes, in France it is actualy spelled with a silent "t") Currently, Chateau du Lac has the only authentic French chef cooking in New Orleans. All of our menu items are prepared to the highest French standards by Chef Jacques, born and trained in France. So take a mini-vacation right around the corner and have a taste of France right here with us. Bon appetit!

Mark Your Calendar:
We will be closed July 5-7th for the 4th of July holiday.
The FIFA World Cup 2010 final is on July 11th.
Bastille Day is July 14th.

Chateau du Lac is showing the FIFA World Cup 2010 matches daily at our bar. Come have a FIFA lunch with us!

New Menu Items!

Cous Cous Andre - This is a North African style dish, a style known for its healthy ingredients, in part because it doesn't require cream or butter. Chef stews chicken and lamb in a special broth of seasonings then adds cous cous so the hearty flavors come through. According to Chef Jacques, "It has a full taste, yet is light and healthy." Available on Fridays in July here at Chateau du Lac.

Our Filet Mignon Burger - We want to remind you that the Chateau du Lac burger is the only filet mignon burger for miles around. It is freshly ground "a la minute" and we are proud to insist that is the finest burger you might ever eat.

Red Beans - Chateau du Lac Style on Mondays has been continued in July.
Red beans and rice is a New Orleans French creole tradition. Now you can enjoy it here - served with pickled meat and sausage, seasoned up in Chateau du Lac style - as only we can do it. If you thought you've eaten really good red beans and rice before, come try Chef Jacques' secret recipe. You'll never think of Red Beans and Rice the same way again.

BASTILLE DAY - JULY 14TH & JAZZ WEDNESDAYS
Next best thing to being in France for Bastille Day
is being at Chateau du Lac Bistro

Wednesday, July 14th is Bastille Day, so come celebrate with us at Chateau du Lac, where we'll have lots of fun with everything French: our French Chef Jacques, French food, French wine, French families, French music. We'll be singing La Marseillaise as the moment moves us. Bastille Day Flag

We always look forward to the celebration on July 14th. Reservations are suggested but not required.

Every Thursday, come get $1 off all drinks at the bar from 5:30 - 7:30 in July and August. This offer is also good on every Jazz Wednesday (other than Bastille Day) when Les Bar-oudeurs play.

Les Bar-oudeurs are here for Bastille Day the 14th and on July 28th.

These events are fun for singles, groups after work or couples. Come on out and enjoy the smooth gypsy grooves and beautiful bistro atmosphere of Chateau du Lac.
FRIENDLY REMINDERS

Fish and Seafood
As a friendly reminder, we want you to know that all of our fish, crab and shrimp that come locally continue to be closely monitored not only by the FDA but also by Chef Jacques and our kitchen staff. As always, our mussels come from Prince Edward Island, our scallops come from Maine and our salmon is from Scotland. We serve Atlantic and Pacific fish as well.

Hormone-free Meat and Free Range Chicken
Our beef and lamb is from New Zealand and Australia and flown in fresh every other day. It is grass and grain fed and hormone free. Our veal is milk-fed domestic from Minnesota. Our Koby beef is grass and grain-fed domestic as well. Our free range chicken is also hormone free.

Mixed Greens and Produce
All of our lettuces, spinach and endives are organic, and whenever possible, our produce is organic as well.

Chateau du Lac's Deli
Chef's citrus-cured house-smoked salmon, at $18 per pound, and his rabbit terrine with pistachio and cognac, at $15 per pound. (Half-pound minimum, please. Anything over 2 pounds, please call 48 hours in advance.)

Chef's Jams: Peach and Plum
Chef's jams are flying out the door. There are still some Louisiana strawberry jams left. Chef has added peach and plum jams, now available for July. Don't miss adding these new succulent flavors to your collection! Ask your waiter for details or just drop over and tell us what you need so you can pick them up.
AU REVOIR

Dear Friends,

USA Soccer Team
Soccer 2010
Since this July is a month of celebrating here at Chateau du Lac, I'd like to personally invite you to drop by... Bastille Day on the 14th is really special for all those French reasons, of course. Since Chef Jacques is a native of France, he makes it very festive. In fact, it flavors our whole month. Also, we're feeling very continental, enjoying all the FIFA World Cup 2010 soccer games every day on our video monitors at the bar. Drop on over and cheer for the home team with us.

Next month, I'll present news about a project very dear to my heart, the new French school, Lycee Francais de la Nouvelle Orleans.

We love getting your feedback and suggestions. Thanks for keeping our communiation open! Call or email me at any time at chateaudulac@aol.com
