The Combination of Exelon With BGE as it's Subsidiary Will Create an Epic Center for Minority Business Spend That Will Be Like No Other in the Baltimore Region
The Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved the merger between Exelon Corporation and Constellation Energy Group. Minority and women-owned firms should be elated that this step has been finalized. Initially, because Constellation Energy Group was not an obligor to the original (MOU PC-16) inclusionary agreement executed in January 2009 calling for minority business spend of 25%.
Finally, with BGE's existing exemplary inclusionary culture and becoming a subsidiary of Exelon whose procurement culture is so inclusive right now, is a winning combination for Greater Baltimore's women and minority owned firms.

GOVERNOR O'MALLEY
ANNOUNCES NEW SPECIAL SECRETARY OF MINORITY AFFAIRS
MWMCA wishes to compliment Governor Martin O'Malley for his wisdom in selecting Zenita Wickham-Hurley as the states new Special Secretary for Minority Business Affairs. In January 2012 MWMCA overwhelmingly selected Mrs. Wickham-Hurley as our "Best Government Administrator of the Year for Minority Business" because she demonstrates the commitment to ensuring minority business is on legal sound footing and that potential front companies do not gain certification as a MBE. We congratulate Mrs. Wickham-Hurley and her lovely family and pray for her continued success.
